The spaces that were marked chance and community chest, are now marked with the NFL association letters. An A for the American football association and a big N for the National football association. These cards are very similar to the other but with awards that pertain to football. There are free get out of jail cards in the deck as well as collect money for being voted most valuable player. You could be elected to the hall of fame and get money or be added to the injured list and pay the bank money. The income tax space is still there and you will still have to pay $200 fine. There are also spaces called first, second, third and first down as well as touchdown and field goal. Those spaces were the utility companies and railroads.
The game pieces for the NFL game is The football helmet, the football, the refs whistle, the quarterback with his arm pulled back ready to throw the ball, the tackle, who is hunched ready to tackle the quarterback, and we can not leave out the cheerleader. What game would be complete without the cheerleader.
The money for the game is the same as in the original game. Everyone starts out with $1,500 in cash and all get to collect $200 when they pass go. Unless of course they go to jail. You also get to collect rents from teams that you own. You also get double rent when you own all teams in that color group.
The other difference is that instead of buying houses and hotels you will buy locker rooms and stadiums. This is a big difference to me.
The game is played by the same rules as the original game from here on out. You buy and sell teams as well as locker rooms and stadium until someone goes bankrupt. The object is to accumulate all that you can as fast as you can to win the game. You can make the game shorter by setting a time limit.
The price for this game will vary. I was very luck I found mine last year. It was about three weeks after Christmas, at, Boskof where I actually found it. They had it for $40.00 and it was on sale for 75% off so I make a great buy. You can also find it at Toys R Us for about $29.99 or $39.99. You can also try your luck with Ebay as well. I do think this game is worth the price though.
My family loved this board game. My husband and daughter are big football fans and I am sorry to say I am not. I do however, love to play this monopoly and it is icing on the cake if I can buy the Viking's team and or the Raven's team. This really upset my family because they think they should be able to buy their favorite teams. I think that if you have a football family this game would be great for you too. This is a great game to play on a game night with snacks. It is also a way to get the family together.
With Christmas right around the corner this could be a great gift for that football nut in your family.

I have the Steelers version of this game, but I haven't played it yet. You've motivated me to bust it out.
I have the Baltimore-version. It's kind of cool to see the variations. :)
I haven't played Monopoly in years, but this sounds like a lot of fun!

My boyfriend has this game and I can't seem to enjoy it, but I guess it is because I am not a big NFL fan. Great review though!
