NFL MVP Candidates for 2010-2011 NFL Season & Prediction
Tom Brady a Runaway NFL MVP Winner? Not so Fast My Friend
In sports sometimes it is the system installed by the team that leads to the success. The New England Patriots have always had an excellent offensive system and Brady is an expert at running the system. The following are the five obvious choices to consider for this years NFL MVP award.
NFL MVP Candidate No. 1
Tom Brady: New England Patriots
Looking at statistics through 16 games Tom Brady's season is not spectacular. He has passed for 3,701 yards,34 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He has been deadly accurate this season. He currently owns a 66% passing percentage and his passer rating is 109.8.
Numbers never determine an NFL MVP but they are factored in the equation. Brady is the unquestioned leader on this team and he does have carte blanche to make key game decisions on the fly. Bill Belichik may be the architect to this New England Patriots team but Tom Brady has the keys to the car and he has driven them to the number one seed in the NFL Playoffs.
NFL MVP Candidate No. 2
Michael Vick: Philadelphia Eagles
The best athlete to consider for the NFL MVP is the Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick but he is a long shot to take home the award. Vick has become the premiere game breaking quarterback in the NFL and each team he plays has to game plan to contain him within the pocket. In Michael Vick's early years he was not considered a great passing quarterback. Now Vick is the total package.
Vick will end the season playing only 12 games this season as he takes a seat for the last game of the NFL season. Vick threw for 3,012 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions in only 12 games and his completion percentage 62.6%. Vick owns a passer rating of 100.2 but his big number is his 676 yards rushing to go with his nine rushing touchdowns.
NFL MVP Candidate No. 3
Matt Ryan: Atlanta Falcons
Nicknamed "Matty Ice" the Atlanta Falcons Matt Ryan has been clutch this season late in games. If he pulled off a comeback against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football last week he definitely makes himself a contender. Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith was so confident Matt Ryan could pull off a last second comeback in that game he punted with less than four minutes remaining.
Matt Ryan's numbers are comparable to the other NFL MVP candidates. He has passed for 3,469 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Ryan owns a passing rating of 89.8 and his completion percentage is 62.2 %. The intangible with Ryan is leadership and his uncanny ability to lead his team to victory late in critical games. His failure against the New Orleans Saints in NFL Week 16 may have eliminated him.
NFL MVP Candidate No. 4
Drew Brees: New Orleans Saints
Looking at numbers, Drew Brees has thrown for more yards this season than any of the top three NFL MVP candidates. Brees and the New Orleans Saints overcame their NFL Super Bowl hangover and Brees is the major reason for their incredible play in the second half of the season.
Brees has thrown for 4,424 yards, 32 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. The 21 interceptions and the low passer rating of 92.2 will play a role in Brees dropping to the low end of the NFL MVP voting. Brees has the highest passing percentage among the top four NFL MVP candidates, 68.7%. Leadership is also a key aspect of Brees being considered for the NFL MVP.
NFL MVP Candidate No. 5
Peyton Manning: Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts 2010 NFL season has been an adventure and a test of Peyton Manning's patience. Manning holds the edge for most passing yards among the NFL MVP candidates but he also owns his worst passing rating since 2002.
Manning has thrown for 4,436 yards after 16 games, 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Manning's low passer rating of 91.4 is evidence that he has been pressing in the face of decimating losses to his offense this season. Manning owns a 66.3 completion percentage which ranks him second among the five NFL MVP candidates.
Who Deserves the NFL MVP?
Taking all aspects of the NFL MVP Award the leadership factor should play a major role this season. Matt Ryan has led this Atlanta Falcons team from the depths of despair following the loss of their previous franchise quarterback Michael Vick to a possible number one seed in the NFL Playoffs. Ryan may not have the numbers to win the NFL MVP but he should be the surprise winner of this years 2010 NFL MVP award. Please feel free to list your NFL MVP rankings in the comment section below.

Post a CommentI'm taking Vick, I'd rather have him with two minutes left in the big game.
Brady's the Best. Nothing else to it!
PS CW--Honestly does anyone reading this believe Randy Moss was a Hall of Fame receiver when he left the Pats. It was a great move by Belichik to dump him at the right time. BTW I clearly give Brady his due above. CW try to live life without tunnel vision and give others credit once in a while.
Wow CW what do you do for a living? Should I write a story like the 5,000 others that say Tom Brady should win without a vote? No dissenting opinions. Did not realize there is no freedom of speech in this country. Do you live in a country where it is your way or the highway?
Matt Ryan for MVP????? That may be the most ridiculous statement I have heard in my entire life. Brady is better than Matt Ryan in all statistical categories, not most, all and to even think that Matt Ryan deserves the award for MVP not only discredits you as a sports writer but shows that you know nothing about sports all together and should lose your job immediately. Michael Vick left Atlanta a long time ago and they were a good, solid team when Ryan arrived they just needed a quarterback And that depths of dispair comment??? Brady makes every one around him better than they really are, not to mention they improved their record from last year even after losing a hall of fame player like Randy Moss. Matt Ryan has one of the best recievers in the game in Roddy White and the best Tight end of all time in Tony Gonzalez, not to mention how good of a running back the Falcons have in Michael Turner to rely on, but yet his numbers aren't even comparable to Brady who's best targets ar
Ok, really everyone? How can you not say Tom Brady is the best QB in the league?? More importantly, how can you not think he deserves the MVP award?? Ask yourself this, How many NFL records has he set this season? How many has he completely shattered? Who has lead his team to the best record in the NFL? Everyone is saying its the "Brady Bandwagon" Well guess what, thats what happens when people are good, not good GREAT! Brady deserves this award and anyone who disagrees is a complete IDIOT, who obviously does not watch football at all! And those of you who are saying Vick, HE JUST GOT OUT OF PRISON FOR DOG FIGHTING!! How can anyone in their right mind like this man? He shouldn't of even been allowed back into the NFL let alone be getting talked about for the MVP award! If Brady does not win this award there is something seriously wrong with the NFL! Go Patriots! Soon to Be Super Bowl winners!!
Although I'm an Indy fan, and love Manning for obvious reasons, I have to say that Tom Brady deserves the MVP this year, hands down! How can you say his year hasn't been spectacular? 4 interceptions vs 36 TD's?? Helloooo??? Did you notice a 111 passing rating, as well? Check out how many games in a row now that he's thrown multiple TD's without an interception.
Point is, give the man his due! Just because everyone seems to be jumping on the Brady bandwagon, that's no excuse NOT to join in if he deserves the recognition.

@SmartPerson Tom Brady and Wes Welker are Pro Bowlers. So he does have the Pro Bowl talent: Tom Brady , a Pro Bowl reciever, Wes Welker equivalent to the one Roddy White you mentioned, and the Pro Bowl skill: Tom Brady.
Everyone please get off the Tom Brady jockstrap
Great work! Happy New Year =0)
