NFL Picks Against the Spread 2010: 5 Best Picks & Spreads for All NFL Week One Games

Three Home Dogs & Two Super Bowl Contenders Make Up Five Best NFL Picks Against the Spread

Todd Jacobs
The NFL kicks off their season in earnest on Sunday September 12th. The first week of betting lines provided by the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook show a few beatable lines & some coin toss picks. The early games should provide some fun games to watch and the late game will provide a classic NFC battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. The following are the five best NFL Games of Week One to bet against the spread, followed by the remaining games. All highlighted games lead to full breakdowns of each game.

Miami Dolphins-3 vs Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills play host to the Miami Dolphins and the world will get their first look at the explosive CJ Spiller in his first NFL game. Spiller could be the X factor in this game and if he gets on track watch out. Take the Bills +3 points to cover against the Dolphins and consider betting the +150 money line on Buffalo.

Atlanta Falcons +3.5 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers will start their third string quarterback, Dennis Dixon against Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan has been picked to beat the defending champion New Orleans Saints in NFC South this season but these expectations of a 10 or 11 win season for the Atlanta Falcons may be over stated. The Pittsburgh Steelers will rattle Ryan and he will have a bad day. Take the home team underdog Steelers to cover the 3.5 point spread and win this game straight up at home.

Cincinnati Bengals vs New England Patriots -6

Everyone is all over the Cincinnati Bengals this season as a threat to make a Super Bowl run. The Las Vegas Hilton Superbook is not impressed by the Bengals, listing them as a 50-1 shot to win the 2011 Super Bowl. Tom Brady signed a contract to become the richest quarterback in the NFL on the eve of his first game and it could help settle him in for business this season. Brady also totaled his car on the way to work in the morning also but was unscathed. Never mind the minutia, Brady will own the Bengals in this game. Take the Patriots -6 over the Bengals, they will not only cover but win by two touchdowns.

Green Bay Packers -1 vs Philadelphia Eagles

In the 2010 NFL season there could be no better offense than the Green Bay Packers. The best way to stop a great offense is a stifling, hard hitting defense. The Philadelphia Eagles will be up to the task in this game against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. Take the home dog Eagles to win the game straight up and cover the +1 against the Packers.

Dallas Cowboys -3.5 vs Washington Redskins

The Dallas Cowboys have struggled in the preseason but don't let this be a concern. The Cowboys are going to be charged up for this Sunday night game against their NFC East rival. Tony Romo will be facing a familiar division foe in Donovan McNabb but McNabb has struggled with an ankle injury as the weekend approaches. Take the Cowboys -3.5 to win this game in crushing style. This game will prove that great players overcome poor coaching.

I agree. VERY GOOD JOB. But one of us is going to have bragging rights next week. Atlanta-Pittsburgh and Dallas-Washington were in my top five too but I went the other way with mine. You only agreed with 1 of my picks. I only agree with one of yours (Bengals-Patriots). Six we disagree on. Who gets bragging rights next week. LOL
