Only one team is left with one loss. That team, the New England Patriots tops the NFL Power Rankings for the third week in a row, and the Patriots are standing out among the glut of 5-2 teams. The Patriots should remain on top as they should have an easy contest this week agains the Cleveland Browns. But remember that this is the NFL, and anything can happen.
Take the Bufalo Bills game against the Bears for Week 9. This is a prime example of an "anthing can happen in the NFL" type of game. The Bills are a team that is 0-7 and Bills have the lowest NFL Power Ranking of any team. This week they play the Bears, and although the Bills have such a low ranking, there is a chance that they may actually beat the Bears. The Bills are my underdog pick of the week. However, since JAMcLynne's Power Ranking Software ranks team based soley on statistics and team performance, the computer picks the Bears to win.
Here are the rest of the NFL Week 9 Predictions based on the NFL Power Ranking Score
Winner in Bold
Sun, Nov 07Time (ET)
New York Jets 76.04 (5-2) at Detroit Lions 50.61 (2-5)
Ford Field 1:00 PM
The Jets will try to recover from the loss against the Packers. If Mark Sanchez and the rest of the Jets offense can get their act together, they should be able to defeat the Lions. However, the Lions are coming off a surprising victory against the Washington Redskins and will be fired up to win another vicory at home.
Miami Dolphins 60.27 (4-3) at Baltimore Ravens 83.52 (5-2)
M&T Bank Stadium 1:00 PM
The Ravens are coming off a bye week, and should be well rested. The Ravens defense has a good rating, while the Dolphins are performing about average. Look for the Ravens to dominate on their home turf.
New England Patriots 96.63 (6-1) at Cleveland Browns 45.75 (2-5)
Cleveland Browns Stadium 1:00 PM
This game could get ugly, not much more to say...
San Diego Chargers 86.2 (3-5) at Houston Texans 59.11 (4-3)
Reliant Stadium 1:00 PM
The Texans are coming off a tough Monday Night loss against the Colts. The Chargers are trying to turn things around back around in an up and down season. The Chargers still have a quality NFL Power Ranking, maybe a little over-rated. The Chargers should still be able to pull out the win.
Chicago Bears 52.64 (4-3) at Buffalo Bills 36.98 (0-7)
Rogers Centre 1:00 PM
The game between the Bears and Bills is my underdog game of the week. The Bills have be cooming close to getting their first win of the season, losing in overtime in their past two games. The quarterback play by Fitzgerald has been strong, and it is only a matter of time before the Bills are able pull out their first win of the season.
Arizona Cardinals 51.72 (3-4) at Minnesota Vikings 63.53 (2-5)
Mall of America Field 1:00 PM
Brett Favre should be able to make his 293rd record start, despite being banged up with a bad ankle, bad elbow, cut chin, the list goes on. One wonders when Favre's heart will give out after getting pounded week after week. If Favre's 41 year old body is up to take another pounding, then the Vikings just may pull out the victory. Its not likely since Favre will be without Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice. Yet the NFL Power Rankings software has the Vikings favored. Go figure.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 56.13 (5-2) at Atlanta Falcons 77.9 (5-2)
Georgia Dome 1:00 PM
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the lowest ranked 5-2 team in the NFL Power Rankings. The Falcons are coming off a bye week, and should be ready for the Bucks. Look for Atlanta to take the win.
New Orleans Saints 89.56 (5-3) at Carolina Panthers 45.03 (1-6)
Bank of America Stadium 1:00 PM
The New Orlean Saints are still highly ranked on the NFL Power Rankings, despite taking three losses on the season. The Carolina Panthers are coming off a bye week and has had a couple of weeks to prepare the the arrival of the Saints. It will not be enough. Saints Win.
New York Giants 84.03 (5-2) at Seattle Seahawks 41.56 (4-3)
Qwest Field 4:05 PM
The Giants are arguably the hottest team in the NFL. They still sit at number five in this week's edition of the NFL Power Rankings. The Giants have had a bye week to get rested up and could come to Seattle, with the three hour time change, sleepy. They better be ready, since the Seahawks have shown some sparks of life this season.
Indianapolis Colts 92.38 (5-2) at Philadelphia Eagles 70.03 (4-3)
Lincoln Financial Field 4:15 PM
The Colts are coming off a Monday Night victory, while the Eagles may have another quarterback controversy on their hands. Will Michael Vick make the start? It probably will not matter, since the Colts have a better NFL Power Rankings score and are looking sharp as one of the best teams in the NFL.
Kansas City Chiefs 78.59 (5-2) at Oakland Raiders 62.99 (4-4)
Oakland Coliseum 4:15 PM
The Raiders are coming off two hot victories. Now is the time for a big test for the Raiders as they face the Chiefs at home. Look for the Chiefs to win. However, the Raiders could pull out another big win.
Dallas Cowboys 61.65 (1-6) at Green Bay Packers 73.94 (5-3)
Lambeau Field 8:20 PM
Two teams going in opposite directions. The Cowboys rankings have been falling like a rock all season. The Cowboys will likely take another loss up at Lambeau Field against the Packers.
Mon, Nov 08 Time (ET)
Pittsburgh Steelers 70.64 (5-2) at Cincinnati Bengals 58.68 (2-5)
Paul Brown Stadium 8:30 PM
This AFC North match up has the Steelers traveling to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. Ben Roethlisberger has not been impressive at all since his return. The Steelers offense had a lackluster performance against the Browns a couple of weeks ago, and sputtered against the Saints on Sunday Night. Despite the poor offensive play, look for the Steelers to win, but it may end up being a closer game.
