NFL Power Rankings: Week 4

NFL Power Rankings Week 4. The fourth weekend of the NFL is over and things are starting to pan out. Things that looked like they might be temporary situations look like they might be something to watch this year, like the Saints collapse and the Cowboys resurgence. It is now time for the fourth week of NFL Power Rankings on AC. The NFL Power Rankings are:

The Patriots are still the number one team after another blowout win and the Colts and Cowboys round out the top 3.

The Ravens, Chargers and Bengals both lost again this week and they were pushed further down the rankings. The Lions, Packers and Cowboys move up after solid week 4 performances and the Bears move down after their embarrasing loss in Detroit.

The Rams take the bottoms spot in the rankings for the first time this season.

Previous Rankings:

Preseason
Week 1
Week 2
Week 3

Without further adieu, here are the NFL Power Rankings:

1. New England Patriots

The Patriots are the first team since the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans to win their first 4 games by 20 or more points. Needless to say, they are number 1.

Next Up: Browns

2. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts had an impressive win on Sunday over the Broncos and they look to be cruising themselves. Halfway to their week 9 showdown, the Colts and Patriots are still both undefeated.

Next Up:

3. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are far and away the best team in the NFC at this point. Tony room is just a ballplayer, did you see his 37 yard fumble turned first down? This team looks great right now.

Next Up:

4. Green Bay Packers

The Packers just keep winning. This time they beat the struggling Minnesota Vikings at home, but it was enough to make them one of only four undefeated teams in the NFL.

Next Up:

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers took a step back this weekend when they lost to the Cardinals. The Steelers went into the game as heavy favorites but could not even squeek out a win. The Steelers still look like a legitimate team in the AFC.

Next Up: Seattle

6. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks continue to play very good football and they see themselves climb up the rankings this week. Hasselback has been playing well, but the Seattle defense is what has them looking so good.

Next Up: at Pittsburgh

7. Tennessee Titans

Vince Young and the Titans were on their bye week this weekend, but their impressive start to the season (with their only loss coming in a close game to the Colts) has them looking very good so far. Jeff Fisher signed a big contract extension last week.

Next Up: Falcons

8. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos lost at the Colts this weekend, but that's not entirely unexpected. The Broncos had been looking a little shaky and the RCA Dome is a very hard place to play. The Broncos stay in the top 10 because of the lack of impressive teams, but they need a good showing this week at the Chargers.

Next Up: Chargers

9. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars entered their bye week at 2-1 and look a lot better than they did after their first game. David Gerrard and the offense have been looking better, but Maurice Jones-Drew still isn't looking like he did last season.

Next Up: at Chiefs

10. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens looked very awful against the Browns this weekend as they couldn't get their offense going at all and they could not stop the Browns. Their defense doesn't look good so far this season and it could be because of their age. If this continues they will take a huge tumble next week.

Next Up: at 49ers

11. Detroit Lions

The Lions got a big win at home over the Bears by pulling out an NFL record 34 points in the fourth quarter. The Lions look pretty good so far this season, but that blowout loss to the Eagles has me wondering. They still don't look good enough to win 11 games this season.

Next Up: at Redskins

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers are certainly one of the most surprising teams early this season, but they got some bad news, as Cadillac Williams will miss the rest of the season. They got a big win this weekend verse the Panthers, but need to find a way to fill the void left by Williams.

Next Up: at Colts

13. Washington Redskins

The Redskins had their bye week this weekend and it was probably a good time for it. They looked very bad two weeks ago in the second half against the Giants and now they have had time to fix what went wrong. They need a nice performance this weekend.

Next Up: Lions

14. San Diego Chargers

The Chargers fans were calling for Marty Schottenheimer after their latest loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It looks like the San Diego GM is on the hot seat after his decision to fire Schottenheimer and hire Norv Turner, the offensive guru who can't get any points on the board. Someone tell Norv Turner to just giver LT the ball, he completely abandoned him in the third quarter and it may have cost them the game.

Next Up: at Broncos

15. Houston Texans

The Texans took a huge step back this weekend as they lost to the Falcons in the Georgia Dome. The Texans started 2-0, but after 2 losses they are now 2-2. The Texans need to come back next week with a big win.

Next Up: Dolphins

16. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers looked like they were getting things together but without Jake Delhomme they looked awful this weekend. There is even more bad news for Panthers fans as it looks like Delhomme could be out for longer than originally thought.

Next Up: at Saints

17. Chicago Bears

The Bears continue to tumble down the rankings, as they are now 1-3. Brian Griese started this weekend, and now it looks like Rex Grossman can't be the scapegoat anymore as Griese was also terrible. Something is seriously wrong in Chicago and one of the popular preseason Super Bowl picks could be out of the playoffs if they don't turn it around soon.

Next Up: at Packers

18. Cincinnati Bengals

Ocho Cinco didn't get the chance to do a touchdown dance this week, but that is probably for the best. Cincinnati's 1-3 start is nothing to dance about.

Next Up: bye

19. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals welcomed the Steelers to the desert and won pretty convincingly in a battle of the former Steelers assistants. Matt Leinart may be upset about their quarterback carousel, but it work this weekend and it will probably be employed until it doesn't work anymore.

Next Up: at Rams

20. New York Giants

The Giants defense had McNabb on his back a ton this weekend, but they did not look as impressive as it sounded. While the Giants defense looked very good, don't forget that the Eagles offensive line was beyond awful and the absence of Westbrook really hurt. The Giants offense could not capitalize when they needed to and they have a lot of work to do.

Next Up: Jets

21. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles offensive line looked downright horrible as they gave up an NFL record number of sacks on Sunday. The absence of Westbrook certainly hurt, but something needs to be done to protect McNabb or he won't last the season.

Next Up: bye

22. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers couldn't find a way to put many points on the board this weekend and things are looking very bad for them now as Alex Smith could be out for at least a few weeks. Add to that the fact the Vernon Davis will be out for a while and you might have some losses piling up.

Next Up: Ravens

23. Cleveland Browns

The Browns are putting together a nice little season so far. After switching to Derek Anderson they have looked a lot better and have put an impressive number of points on the board. After winning only 3 games all of last season, the Browns have won 2 in their first four games. If Crennel can beat the Patriots this week he might get himself another year to sort out the mess.

Next Up: at New England

24. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs went on the road and won impressively at the Chargers. Now so far it is not known if the Chiefs are really that good, or the Chargers are really that bad. So far it looks like a combination of both. Larry Johnson should start to look better now after facing four of the top run defenses in the NFL in the first four games.

Next Up: Jaguars

25. Oakland Raiders

Daunte Culpepper got some serious reveng this weekend on the team that not only relesed him, but had security escort him off the practice field. The Raiders now need to show what they can do against some of the better teams in the league.

Next Up: bye

26. New Orleans Saints

The Saints took mercy on their fans by not playing this week as they took their bye. The Saints have looked awful so far this season and hopefully for them they have found a way to regroup. Their offensive line has been their most glaring problem, not allowing Brees any protection. The injury to Deuce McAllister will put the spotlight solely on Reggie Bush, and I am not sure he can handle being an every down back.

Next Up:Panthers

27. Buffalo Bills

The Bills earned their first victory of the season this weekend against the New York Jets and they look alright. Don't forget that the Bills played the Steelers, Patriots and Broncos their first three games, so they could look much better in the coming weeks.

Next Up: Cowboys

28. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons picked up their first win of the season this weekend when they beat the Houston Texans. Joey Harrington looks like he is improving every week and Atlanta may actually have a football team yet.

Next Up: at Tennessee

29. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings have a pretty good defense, but they really need a quarterback. The Vikings had Holcomb starting this week, but it looks like they will go back to Tavaris Jackson for next week. Unless Adrian Peterson can somehow throw, the Vikings will continue to struggle offensively.

Next Up: bye

30. New York Jets

At least the Jets had an excuse for one of there losses, right? Because spygate can't be the reason they are this bad. Losing to the Bills is not what Mangini had in mind for this team, which made the playoffs last season.

Next Up: at Giants

31. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are just plain bad. After this week the Dolphins are probably wishing they had kept Daunte Culpepper around. When will John Beck be starting for these Dolphins?

Next Up: at Houston

32. St. Louis Rams

The Rams look incredibly awful so far this season. Someone needs to tell Marc Bulger to just shelve it for a couple of weeks because it is not worth having to miss the rest of your career for this terrible team.
