NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Bengals, Broncos, Vikings Still Winning; Top 5 Solidify in Rankings

Giants, Colts Remain Dominant as Well as the Manning Brothers Continue Their March to the Hall of Fame

The NFL Power Rankings for Week 6 show stability in the top half of the Top Ten, which is as it should be after four or five games (some of the teams, like the New Orleans Saints, had a bye this past weekend). The CBS sports power rankings for Week 6 saw its Top 5 remain in the same slots. Fox Sports stabilized its Top 4 and its No. 10 team. ESPN's NFL Power Rankings saw their Top 4 also remain stationary.

The biggest story of Week 6 has to be the Denver Broncos and their shocking overtime win against the New England Patriots. Besides the Monday Night Football match-up between Miami and the Jets, it was arguably the best game as well (with a nod to the Dallas game against K.C.). It was a game of defenses, but Denver shut New England down -- with Tom Brady -- in the second half when they needed to, mounted a late drive and tied the game. A quick march down the field and a kick and -- voila! -- the Denver Broncos are 5-0. That tipped pass in the first game against Cincinnati is starting to look like it was a sign of good things to come for Denver. So far, so good...

Another big story in Week 6 was Brett Favre and the seemingly unstoppable Minnesota Vikings. They rocked St. Louis, who were no doubt depressed over the news that Rush Limbaugh might become the team owner. At 5-0, they now take on Baltimore and Pittsburgh in succession and the league will find out just how strong they really are.

Along with the Saints and the Broncos, this year's other shocker is the Cincinnati Bengals, who beat the defensively tough Baltimore Ravens (who suffered their second loss in a row). The Bengals are now 4-1, and, if it weren't for that ridiculous last play, that tipped pass in the Denver game, would be 5-0 and in Denver's position.

The Fox Sports power rankings for Week 6 showed this closeness by placing Denver just one position ahead of Cincinnati. They were also the NFL power rankings biggest movers this week in the Fox Sports slots. The biggest shift in the CBS power rankings was backwards with the Jets falling 7 spots to #13 with their loss to the Miami Dolphins. ESPN's NFL power rankings saw its biggest mover in the Bengals as they jumped 5 notches into the #6 position. They also showed the difference between the Denver Broncos and the Bengals as one position (CBS had Cincinnati at No. 8 and Denver 5).

So, who topped the NFL Power Rankings during Week 6? The same two teams that topped them last week, of course. The New York Giants top both the CBS and Fox Sports NFL power rankings, while Indianapolis tops the ESPN line-up.

The NFL power rankings for Week 6 showed the same Top 10 teams in all three line-ups, except for the addition of the Chicago Bears and the exclusion of the New York Jets in ESPN's NFL power rankings.

    Go Broncos!

I'm not sure the Broncos' win was "shocking" as such...they look pretty good. And never fear, the Steelers will be there at the end or near it. The Jets probably won't. And don't bank on the Giants either. The Yankees have used up a great portion of the wins allotted to NYC.

I just don't get why the Jets are still so high on these lists. I must be missing something.
