NFL Power Rankings are starting to appear all over the Internet for the upcoming 2010 season. NFL Power Rankings created by major media outlets are favored most web surfers, but who is to say I can not come up with one of my own NFL Power Rankings? I crunched the statistics from these teams into my propriety "NFL Power Ranking Software."
The software churned the numbers inside the computer's for a few minutes and the computer spat out my very own set of Week 1 NFL Power Rankings. Never one to completely trust a computer, I massaged the data to account for personnel, injuries, as well as ongoing controversies within each organization. There always is a human element and team chemistry to mess around with expected team performance that a computer will never be able to model.
Here is a break down of the numbers starting of with the best and finishing the worst. For brevity sake, I will not comment on each team. These are only my computer's, and my opinion on how 2010 NFL Team Rank this year so do not take the position of your team to heart. You are free to post your opinions on how my software and data massaging performed on this version of this version of NFL Power Rankings in the comments section.
My number one team to start the NFL Power Rankings are the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. Until they lose a game they will remain at the top spot. Their position at the top spot may only last a week since they have a tough opener against the Vikings. The Vikings are one of the top 5 teams in the NFL Power Rankings. Perhaps the Saints will be knocked out of the number one spot in JAMcLyne's 2010 NFL Power Rankings?
Next on the list are the Colts. What? Ranking a team second in the NFL Power Rankings that goes 0-4 in preseason? The preseason is over, and look for Peyton Manning and the Colts to power their way to another strong season. Perhaps even matching their 14 win season from a season ago.
Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets come in at third. Sanchez can be considered a seasoned veteran now and the Jets should be able to out ahead of the New England Patriots, who come in at 7th in this edition of the NFL Power Rankings.
Looking at the bottom of the NFL Power Rankings, we see the usual suspects. These are some of the worst teams from a year ago, and they have done little to improve themselves. The bottom of the NFL Power Rankings include the Detroit Lions, St Louis Rams, and the Cleveland Browns.
The first NFL game will take place on Thursday night as the Minnesota Vikings take on the reigning Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.
