NFL Predictions: Packers Get Revenge Against Vikings

Steve Helmer
Well, I survived last week with a 9-4 finish, putting me in good position heading into this week's picks. My wife, unfortunately, didn't do as well, predicting just 3 of the 13 games correctly. Being the trooper she is though, she did take the time to weigh in again this week. Hopefully, she'll do much better this time around.

Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills - If the Bills continue to play as well as they did last weekend, they might be able to save Dick Jauron's job. Oh wait; they were playing the Panthers, weren't they? Texans win.

My wife's pick: Texans

Cleveland Browns at Chicago Bears - It'll be interesting to see how these two teams respond after they lost by a combined 63 points to the Packers and Bengals. I think the difference in this game will be Jay Cutler, who is inconsistent but can at least get his offense moving at times. Bears win.

My wife's pick: Browns

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys - The Cowboys did get a much-needed win over the Atlanta Falcons last weekend. But, the rested Seahawks will likely give them more of a challenge. Seahawks win.

My wife's pick: Seahawks

St. Louis Rams at Detroit Lions - These two teams are a combined 1-12 so this game really doesn't count for much; other than maybe determining who gets the first overall pick next season. I think I'm going to give St. Louis the edge here simply because they need the win more. Rams win.

My wife's pick: Lions

San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts - Substituting Alex Smith last weekend gave the 49ers a spark on offense and almost led to them getting the win. But, there's a reason why he hasn't been able to win the starting job despite being a former number one pick. Colts win.

My wife's pick: Colts

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets - New York got something going last week in a shut out against the Raiders. But, that was the Raiders. I think their division rival will give them more of a challenge. Dolphins win.

My wife's pick: Dolphins

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles - Losing to the Saints helped the rest of the NFC East close the gap on the Giants. I think they will expand their division lead this weekend. Giants win.

My wife's pick: Eagles

Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens - A couple weeks ago, the Ravens almost gave the Vikings their first loss of the season. The Broncos, also undefeated, don't have Brett Favre at quarterback. Ravens win.

My wife's pick: Broncos

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans - The Jaguars have three more wins than the winless Titans. But, Tennessee is coming off a bye week and I think Jeff Fisher might have made some much needed adjustments. Titans win.

My wife's pick: Jaguars

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers - So, which Raiders team shows up; the one that beat the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago or the team that was shut out by the Jets? I'm going to go with the latter. Chargers win.

My wife's pick: Chargers

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals - The Panthers should have spent their off season trying to upgrade their quarterback position. Cardinals win.

My wife's pick: Cardinals

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers - I told several people I was going to pick the Vikings to win this game. The Packers still have questions on their offensive line and are now banged up at receiver with just three healthy wide outs and probably a promoted practice squad player. But, I remembered the last time these two teams met and realized, despite all the problems they had, the Packers only lost by a touchdown. This time around, they are playing at home. Packers win.

My wife's pick: Packers

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints - The Falcons are not a team that is built to come back from behind. But, I suspect they will take the lead early in this game and run away with it. Falcons win.

My wife's pick: Falcons

My overall record: 66-37 (.641)

My wife's overall record (since week 7) - 3-10 (.230)
