In the NFC, every single team has now lost two games or more. The Falcons, Bears and Buccaneers took serious blows, as the Falcons were handled by the Eagles 31-17, the Bears got upset by the Seahawks 23-20, and the Buccaneers were blown out by the Saints 31-6.
After the NFL scores Week 6, there are five 4-2 teams leading the NFC, with three 3-2 teams trailing them. The Saints finally looked like their old selves, while the Eagles are once again rising after losing a starting quarterback. Meanwhile, the Giants continued their surge with a 28-20 triumph over the Lions, they have turned around drastically in the last three weeks.
The NFC picture got even more muddled when the Packers fell to .500 in a 23-20 overtime loss to the Dolphins. The Rams are also back at .500 after upsetting the Chargers 20-17. Even the 49ers are off the snide, as they knocked off the Raiders 17-9 for their first win.
Yet the major event in Week 6 was the "Panic Bowl" between the Cowboys and Vikings. It was Minnesota that finally got some relief, as their 24-21 victory got them back up to 2-3. However, Dallas is now 1-4 and in the NFC East basement, as they may not have even hit bottom yet.
Over in the AFC, the presumed favorites made out a little better. The Ravens lost an opportunity, however, as they blew a 10-point lead to the Patriots and fell in overtime 23-20. The Patriots kept pace with the Jets in the AFC East after New York escaped with a 24-20 win over the Broncos.
The Jets now have the best record in football, and are the only 5-1 team in the league. Following the scores this week, the Jets, Patriots and Steelers are the only one-loss teams left. The Steelers stayed on top with a 28-10 victory over Cleveland in Ben Roethlisberger's return.
The AFC South is also still tight after the Texans rallied against the Chiefs 35-31, and the Colts survived the Redskins 27-24. With Tennessee and Jacksonville playing tonight, it seems that three AFC South teams will be tied with a 4-2 record. Meanwhile, in the AFC West, the 3-2 Chiefs lead a division of three 2-4 franchises.
There was a lot of hype around Week 6, yet the NFL scores were relatively orderly - or as orderly as this season can get.
