Walter Payton. Chicago Bears Running Back. Ok everyone knows he died but I couldn't not include him. Passed away November 1st 1999 of liver cancer. Turned down being moved up on organ donor list. He said he would not have someone die while his celebrity status would help him live.
Derrick Thomas- Kansas City Chief Linebacker. Died February 8th 2000 a month after being partially paralyzed in a automobile accident.
Tom Landry- Dallas Cowboys Coach. Passed away February 12th 2,000 of Cancer.
Tex Schramm- General Manager Dallas Cowboys. The man, who gave us the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, passed away July 15 2003.
Harvey Martin- Defensive End, Dallas Cowboys. Passed away Christmas Eve 2001 of Cancer.
Fred Lane-Former Colts and Panthers Running Back. Killed by his wife July 6th 2000.
Mike Webster-Pittsburg Steelers and Kansas City ChiefCenter. Died September 24th 2002 of a heart attack.
Ray Nitschke- Linebacker for the Green Bay Packers. Died March 3 1998 of a Heart Attack
Eric Turner- Defensive Back Oakland Raiders. Died May 28th 2000 of Cancer.
Johnny Unitas- Baltimore Colt and San Diego Charger Quarterback. Perhaps the best football player of his era. Died September 11th 2002 of a heart attack.
Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch Wide Receiver Los Angeles Rams. Died Jan 28 2004 at the age of 80.
David Woodly- Quarterback Miami Dolphins. One half of the famed "Woodstrock" Quarterback team with Don Strock. Died of Liver Failure May 5th 2003.
"Bullet" Bob Hayes- Wide Receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. Billed as the world's fastest human after winning Olympic Gold. The only man to have both a Olympic Gold Medal and a Super Bowl Ring. Died September 18th 2002 of Liver Failure.
Pat Tillman- Arizona Cardinals Defensive Back. Died in Afghanistan due to friendly fire while serving in the United States Army. April 22nd 2004. Noted for giving up a lucrative NFL career to serve his country after the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
Pete Rozelle- The Best NFL Commissioner of all time. Died December 6th 1996 of Cancer.
Hank Stram- Coach of the only Kansas City Chief Super Bowl winning team (until next season) Died July 4th 2005 of Sugar Diabetes.
Andre Waters- Defensive Back, Philadelphia Eagles. Died of a self inflicted gunshot wound November of 2006.
Justin Strzelczyk Pittsburg Steelers Offensive Lineman. Died in a car accident following a 40 mile chase by police. November 2004.
