NFL Super Bowl XLIV Passing Prop Bets

Super Bowl Prop bets always give the bettors a little extra to root for during a blowout or boring game. Passing props are tricky but there are some good long shots to play. Many of the passing props are straight up -110 bets, meaning the bettor has to play 110 dollars to win 100. Most of these are longest completion props or head to head passing props. The following passing props are a little off the beaten path and aren't meant to be bet heavily. All proposition bets have been posted by the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook.

First touchdown of the game will be: a pass -170 or any other touchdown +150.
The first touchdown to be scored is most likely a passing touchdown according to the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook. This means if one of the teams scores on a kick return, punt return or rushing play the prop, any other touchdown wins. Also any defensive touchdown will get the money for any other touchdown. The best bet is any other touchdown at +150.

Total number of players with a passing attempt over 2 1/2: +250 under -300.
This is an interesting prop because the prop is showing that neither team will attempt a trick play. Neither Indianapolis or New Orleans have tried many trick plays but this is the Super Bowl and both teams have had two weeks to practice trick plays. It is a good bet one of the teams will try an end around with a pass because the other team won't expect it. Don't be surprised if both teams attempt it. New Orleans has Reggie Bush who has several pass attempts in his career. Bet the over 2 1/2 and this may be won before half time.

What will Drew Brees throw first: interception +180 TD -210?
This will be Drew Brees first Super Bowl and it could lead to a rushed pass early on. Although Brees was the NFL's leading passer and only had 11 interceptions, still have to like the plus money on this bet. Take Drew Brees will throw an interception before a touchdown at +180.

Will Drew Brees throw a TD in the first quarter: Yes +220 No -260.
One thing that can be counted on if Drew Brees does throw an interception, is that he will score a touchdown in the first quarter also. Can't argue with placing a bet on one of the most prolific passers in the NFL. Every prop bet on Brees throwing a touchdown in one of the quarters is actually plus money and can't argue with taking any of them. The prop for the third quarter is next best at +200. Bet Yes Brees will throw a touchdown in the first quarter.

Will Peyton Manning throw a TD pass in the first quarter: Yes +175 No -200.
This prop seems like a no-brainer but a lot of Super Bowl games start slowly even when there are explosive offenses involved. Manning won't be denied in the first quarter and he will score on the first or second drive. There is also a prop for Manning to score in the third quarter for +165. Both bets are good bets especially since the game should go over as expected. Bet on Manning to throw a touchdown in the first quarter +175.
