NFL Vegas Odds: Chiefs vs. Buccaneers Betting Pick

The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are two proud NFL franchises that have been going the wrong way in recent years, and it's looking like a competitive preseason game will go down tonight in Tampa as the NFL Vegas odds are close yet again between the two teams.

Both teams are looking to work as many young guys into the mix as possible while sorting out what should be wide-open depth charts, making for a competitive game that betting fans can set their watches to tonight.

Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)

7:30 pm ET

NFL Vegas Odds: Tampa Bay favored by -2 ½

The Bucs will be led by QB Josh Freeman, who went 4-4 for 53 yards in his first game in a rainy loss to the Dolphins.

Freeman has a lot of detractors but others see his great physical talents including size and arm strength and believe he has a chance to succeed as the starting QB in due time.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have a running back dilemma on their hands as Thomas Jones, Jamaal Charles, and Dexter McCluster are all fighting for playing time.

It's a good problem to have and gives Kansas City more weapons in this game to combat the Bucs' run defense, which can be good at times but also shaky when the backups come in.

Kansas City will hit them in waves in the running game and Matt Cassel is likely to get a lot of reps as the starting QB as he is learning Charlie Weis' system for the Chiefs.

Simply put, the Chiefs have more offensive weapons in what is likely to be another sloppy preseason game decided by a few big plays.

These two teams last met in a preseason game in the year 2000 and the Vegas NFL odds for this one don't reflect any sort of recent history between the two. They simply are an educated guess for a game between two poor teams with Tampa getting the nod because it's a home game.

That's not enough to bet on the Bucs, nor is the expected debut of #3 overall pick Gerald McCoy at defensive tackle as McCoy is like to try too hard to make plays and might get caught out of position a few times.

Take the Chiefs and their versatile, deep backfield in this one along with the points.
