- Obviously the big story was the Colts giving away a shot at an undefeated season. Coach Caldwell is still saying he made the right decision. Um, Jim? If you have to keep defending your decision over and over again, chances are it was the wrong move. I'm just saying. Mark my words, that decision will cost the Colts a shot at the Superbowl. Their coach messed with the team chemistry and they will lose to either New England or San Diego.
- Speaking of San Diego, can this team look any better? A 42-17 shellacking of the red hot Titans (wow, who would've used that term a couple months ago) has pundits all up on the Chargers bandwagon. They are a very good team but I'm not sure I'm there yet. After all, they are the Chargers with Norv in charge. How far can they REALLY go? Plus Tomlinson has yet to really get going this year. I should know. He's on my fantasy team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win their first playoff game very impressively and then fall apart in the championship game against (insert any team name here).
- Can the Jets get any more lucky? Their opponent this past week gave up on them and their opponent next week (Cincinnati) has nothing to play for and will probably start J.T. O'Sullivan at QB. Just win and you're in, baby. Then we'll see if you can beat the Colts WITH all their players.
- Well my Steelers still have an outside shot at the playoffs. A win over Miami plus losses by the Jets (to Cincinnati) and Houston (to New England) put the defending champs in the playoffs. Under normal circumstances, this scenario isn't too difficult. But I'm rooting for two teams who are already in the playoffs and have nothing to play for. That cheer you'll hear for J.T. O'Sullivan on Sunday night. Yeah, that will be me.
- Seven of my 14 fantasy football teams this year went to the championship game. After the first week of the championship, I'm leading in 5 of those games. The one game I got blown out in? My best team that went 12-1 this year lost by 30+ points. Go figure.
- The Saints lose to the Buccaneers? Seriously? I love the shot of their owner celebrating and hugging in his box only to find out their kicker missed the field goal. Oops. Losing to the Buccaneers is as bad as my Steelers losing to the Browns...and Raiders....and Chiefs....on second thought, never mind. Ok, moving on.
-There's no team I dislike more than the Broncos (except maybe the Colts) and they've almost completed their amazing collapse. From 6-0 to missing the playoffs. Gotta love it. Does Josh McDaniel remind anyone else of a kid freash out of college who comes in as a new manager and starts firing people? I doubt he saw enough of Cutler in the one week he was there to drive him out like that. And now both of them are paying for it.
Cinderella in AFC playoff- Look at for Baltimore, assuming they actually beat Oakland this week. They will beat Indy in the Divisional Round.
Cinderella in NFC playoff- Green Bay. Other than New England, this team is on a roll
Most likely Super Bowl matchup - New England vs Philadelphia
I want to believe in the Saints. I really do. What a great story that would be. But....it is the Saints and they are not looking the part of a playoff team lately.
