NFL Week 5 Predictions, Best Bets

Wordsleuth
NFL Best Bets for Week 5. The fifth week of the NFL season is upon us and the lines are out. So what are the NFL Best Bets for Week 5? Here they are:

There are a lot of great matchups this week but there are some big mismatches as well. I have selected a few teams that I see winning by a lot of points this weekend that didn't have quite high enough of a line.

TEXANS -5.5 over Dolphins

The Texans looked like a real football team before last weekend and they should be able to beat the Miami Dolphins at home. The Dolphins defense has looked horrible and Matt Shaub should be able to pick apart the corners. If the Houston defense can be decent than they should cover.

Seahawks +5.5 over STEELERS

The Seahawks have been playing some very good football and the Steelers took a step backwards this weekend. The Seahawks defense has been very good the last few games and I don't think the Steelers will score the points needed to win by 6 points or more.

PATRIOTS/Browns over 48

Well the Browns have shown some signs on offense, but I am going with the over mainly because of the Patriots offense. The Pats are averaging 37 points per game, and if they get anywhere near that I feel confident the Browns can get into double digits and hit the over.

Cardinals -3.5 over RAMS

The Rams are just terrible with no offense. This week Marc Bulger will be sitting with two broken ribs and Gus Frerrote will start in his place. I don't see this making much of a difference and the Cardinals should be able to cover here.

GIANTS -3.5 over Jets

The Jets let the Buffalo Bill shave their way with them down the stretch and the Jets defense has not proven anything yet this season. The Giants are showing some good signs, especially on defense, and they should be able to destroy the Jets this weekend.

COLTS -10 over Buccaneers

TheBuccaneers look good so far this season, but they are way overmatched this weekend. The Colts will be at home and we all know the RCA Dome is a tough place to play. Not knowing who will run for the Bucs is a big concern and the Colts corners should be able to keep the Bucs receivers at bay.

Ravens -3 over 49ERS

No Alex Smith and no Vernon Davis has the 49ers in big trouble this weekend. While the Ravens defense hasn't looked great yet this season, they will look more like their old selves this week. The Ravens offense will struggle, but they should score just enough points.

Cowboys -10 over BILLS

The Bills looked better this weekend, but they were playing the New York Jets. This weekend the undefeated Cowboys come to town and this should be no contest. If this game were in the winter it might be a different outcome. The Cowboys should win this game easily.

PACKERS -3 over Bears

The Packers have looked pretty good so far this season with an impressive defense and the Bears have looked awful, especially giving up 34 points in the fourth quarter to the Lions. I will stick with the team that looks much, much better for this game.

Seahawks/STEELERS Under 39

The Seahawks and the Steelers will meet up in Pittsburgh and it should be a battle of the defenses. This game should not get out of the 30s, especially if Hines Ward does not play.

Jaguars/CHIEFS over 36

The Chiefs put up 30 points on the Chargers and I can see them putting up something in the 20s against the Jaguars. The Chiefs defense is good, but not good enough to keep the Jaguars from scoring some points. 36 is a very low point total and I will take the over.

With all the picks made it is time for me to remind you that these are merely the best plays on the board as I see them and they are not guaranteed winners, nothing is guaranteed. I hope you have fun with these NFL selections and good luck this weekend. All lines are gathered from BetUs.com and from Wagerline.com and were accurate at the time of this article being written. Keep in mind, line movement may occur.

Remember not to bet more than you can afford to lose and that wagering should be for fun only. If you have a gambling problem I urge you not to place a wager.
