Atlanta fans are slowly forgetting about former Falcon QB Michael Vick with every tight spiral and good defensive read that rookie Atlanta QB Matt Ryan makes. Their 27-24 road win over the Green Bay Packers last week puts them over .500 at 3-2 in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Ryan completed 16 of 26 for 194 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in handing the Packers their third straight loss.
The Bears shut down Detroit on the road 34-7 and Chicago QB Kyle Orton had his best day ever as the Bears QB.
The Falcon/Bears game will be played in Atlanta after the Falcons played their last two games on the road. So far this year they've beaten Detroit, at home 34-21, lost 24-9 to Tampa Bay in Tampa, rolled over the Kansas City Chiefs with a 38-14 win in Atlanta, lost to the Carolina Panthers at Carolina 24-9, and taken the Packers, as we said, on the road 27-24. They're an on again off again team in terms their record both against the spread and the over/under so we'll look to their recent history for some help in picking this one. OVER is 10-3 in the past 13 Atlanta Falcon October games. Chicago is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite, and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games in October. For the Bears, UNDER is 12-2 in the past 14 October road games.
Both of these teams are playing good ball right now and both teams are an early suprise. Chicago was supposed to be a no offense team headed for a 6-9 or 7-10 record. The Falcons season was supposed be a success if they won more than 4 games and they've already won 3.The Bears go into this game with no injuries reported, and Atlanta has none reported either. The Bears have beaten better quality teams than the Falcons have this year and are probably the stronger of the two teams right now.
The early line for this game is Bears -2.5, Falcons +2.5 with an over under of 43.5 all courtesy of Sportsbook.com
We're looking for an edge. Historically, UNDER is the way to go when the Bears play on the road and they are coming off two very good defensive efforts in the past two weeks so we''ll take the under. Can the Bears win and cover on the road against a no pushover Atlanta Falcon team? Answer, Yes. The Bears are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings with Atlanta and 3-0 ATS against the Falcons in Atlanta. We'll take Da' Bears to win and cover. Get your bets down early to give Atlanta only 2.5 points. The line is sure to move to 3 soon.
