NFL Week 6 Power Rankings

After a Fun Week of Football, and 5 Weeks Down, Playoff Races Start to Take Shape

Jim Kelly
We've had some upsets and some blowouts in Week 5, and at the end of the day, there are still 5 undefeated teams in the NFL. All 5 are in the top 5 of the power rankings this week as St. Louis and Kansas City battle it out for the bottom spot.

1. New York Giants - The most impressive win over the weekend with a 44-7 blowout of the lowly Raiders. They haven't really had a test yet this year, but next week against the 4-0 Saints will change all that.

2. Indianapolis Colts - It seems every year they start out with winning their first handful of games doesn't it? Peyton is just clicking with everyone on his team right now. Look for them to take the top spot next week if the Giants play a close game.

3. Minnesota Vikings - This team is a lot of fun to watch let me tell you. If you haven't had the opportunity to watch them play, you'll be mesmerized by their talent and their teamwork.

4. Denver Broncos - A huge win in ugly uniforms against the Patriots puts them past the Saints for the number four spot. With a really weak division, look for them to stay on top all year with their fiery new coach.

5. New Orleans Saints - They have a huge match up with the Giants next week where Shockey can exact some revenge on his old team. So can head coach Sean Peyton.

6. Cincinnati Bengals - Another impressive win and this team just keeps on rolling. Beating Pittsburgh and Baltimore in back to back weeks is something to be proud of. This team should be undefeated right now.

7. Philadelphia Eagles - They can just beat you in so many ways it's insane. They have speed, strength, and power. One of the most underrated offensive lines in the league too, do you see how much time McNabb has to pass?

8. Atlanta Falcons - A few weeks ago I had the 49ers as my dark horse to win the NFC. Atlanta only has one loss on the year and that was to Tom Brady and company. Look for them to keep on winning considering they get to play the Bucs and Panthers a few more times.

9. Chicago Bears - Jay Cutler is going to look to keep carrying his team next week while his old team is just surprising the hell out of everyone.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers - The defending champs beat up on Detroit this week and have already taken their lumps this year. They've been here before look for them to nab a playoff spot, Big Ben just refuses to lose.

11. New England Patriots - Even with the loss against the Broncos, the Patriots still have a lot going for them. With the return of Mayo to the defensive side, they'll be much more formidable. Now Brady just has to get his deep ball accuracy back.

12. Dallas Cowboys - After a disappointing game last week against Denver, the Cowboys took the dramatics to Kansas City but won this time. Miles Austin had 250 receiving yards, but Tony Romo is still overrated.

13. Baltimore Ravens - Despite the loss to Ocho Cinco and crew, this team is built to win a championship with a great quarterback and an even better defense. Two tough losses back to back, they should start reeling off some wins real soon.

14. Arizona Cardinals - Just when I thought they were out they pulled me back in. A not so easy win over the Texans and a 49ers loss has this team eying the division crown.

15. Miami Dolphins - They are looking fabulous in the last two games and they are the masters at ball control. Look for more wins from this crew.

16. San Francisco 49ers - A rough loss against the Falcons drop them a bit, but they still have a share of the lead in the NFC West. The usually play great defense but this weekend something went wrong, when even Dre Bly looked like an idiot.

17. New York Jets - With a loss to Miami in a great game Monday night, the Jets fall a few places but are no where near out of it yet. As long as their defense doesn't perform that badly anymore.

18. San Diego Chargers - A weak division outside of Denver is a big plus for this team. They'll need to depend on Rivers and gates to carry them with Tomlinson looking washed up. Make me eat my words Ladanian, please for my fantasy teams sake.

19. Green Pay Packers - Another team off a bye week they play in a really tough division and should beat up on everybody else outside of the NFC North, excluding Detroit.

20. Seattle Seahawks - They looked like a whole different team with Matt Hasselbeck back behind center, and their defense shut out Jacksonville and Maurice Jones-Drew.

21. Carolina Panthers - The only reason this team is so high, yes 20 is high for them is because the other teams are just brutally awful and they are the only team that won this week.

22. Washington Redskins - Time for a new coach. They just can't win this year and are in a division with three teams that could make the playoffs. Ouch.

23. Houston Texans - Their bright spot was Andre Johnson's ridiculous touchdown. Youtube it.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars - This team just got shut out by the Seahawks and they're still ranked above a lot of teams. Hand the ball off more to your best player.

25. Cleveland Browns - They get on the winner's board this year with a 6-3 win against the Bills. Okay so maybe Carolina wasn't the only bottom 10 team to lose but seriously a 6-3 against the Bills is just as bad as a loss.

26. Buffalo Bills - Bye bye Terrell Owens. Look for Mr. Controversial to be somewhere else by the trading dead line he is not happy and ice cold, in both ways.

27. Detroit Lions - Two straight losses after their first one in over a season, but at least they almost played competitive against the Steelers. Almost.

28. Oakland Raiders - JaMarcus Russell had 100 passing yards against the Giants last week. I think Eli had that in the first quarter. Truly a bust, move on.

29. Kansas City Chiefs - Almost pulled out their first win of the year against the Cowboys. They really just have no play makers to help Cassel.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - A gruesome loss to Philly. They did have a bright spot in Kellen Winslow however.

31. Tennessee Titans - Another week, another big loss. When is Vince going to start?

32. St. Louis Rams - Seriously when was the last time they won?
