NFL Week 6 Underdog Picks to Win; Betting Dogs to Beat the Spread & Win

Michael Luchies
Lines were updated on Tuesday, October 13th, and are from Bodog.com. Here are my underdog picks for the week. These are not just picks to cover the spread, but to win the game, please read my reasoning and how confident I am on each of the picks. Here are my four underdog picks for week 6.

Kansas City Chiefs (+6.5) @ Washington Redskins
This might seem like a long shot since Kansas City is 0-5 and on the road, but is it a long shot? The 0-5 Chiefs have actually scored 11 more points this season than the Redskins. The Redskins looked completely defeated after losing a tough game to the previously winless Carolina Panthers. Matt Cassel looked good against Dallas, as they almost upset the Cowboys in week 5. As long as the Chiefs line can get some blocking for Larry Johnson, the Chiefs have a great shot to upset the Redskins on the road. I'm taking the Chiefs to win! (Jim Zorn might not live through the first half of this season). 21-17 Chiefs.

Baltimore Ravens (+3) @ Minnesota Vikings
No one is hungrier for a win than the Ravens, whose defense gave up a last minute touchdown to the Bengals. Flacco and company will come to kill Favre in Minnesota. Although Minnesota has looked great so far this season, who have they played? Answer: 0-5 St. Louis Rams, 1-4 Detroit Lions, 1-4 Cleveland Browns, 2-2 Green Bay Packers, and the 3-2 San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have been the best team they have played (Green Bay has no O-line) and they nearly lost the game. As long as Flacco doesn't have more than one or two meetings with Mr. Jared Allen, this should be an impressive victory for the Ravens who can get it done on the ground and in the air. Ravens win, 28-17.

Arizona Cardinals (+3) @ Seattle Seahawks

Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. In this match-up I have every reason to go with the Seahawks. The game is in Seattle, Hasselbeck is back and had his way with Jacksonville's defense, but I don't think that Hasselbeck solves all of the teams problems that they had with the 49ers, Bears, and Colts, and Seneca Wallace played good ball. The Cardinals have been sleeping through the first few games, but I think they will wake up like me after a daily cup of Starbucks coffee once they reach Seattle. The running game is starting to pick up steam, and Warner looks as good as ever. I am taking the Cardinals, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Cardinals 28-27.

LOCK: New York Giants (+3) @ New Orleans Saints
My underdog lock is the New York Giants over the New Orleans Saints. I'm not sure if you've heard, but the Giants are a little bit of a road team (if I could go one week without hearing that the Giants are good on the road, I'd be a happy person). The 5-0 Giants have one of the best defenses in the league and will get enough pressure on Brees to make him rush a few throws. The Saints do not have a top notch defense, and will not be able to stop Manning make completions at will. Ahmad Bradshaw and Jacobs look like a tandem that the Saints will not be able to control as well. I really like the Giants in this one, Brees can only do so much. Giants 35-28.

My goal for underdog picks is to go 2-2. Since the money line is in your favor, a 2-2 week in picking underdogs is a winning week. Good luck, and for a knockout pick this week I like the Jaguars at home against the Rams, or Jets at home against the Bills.
