NFL Week Two Predictions and Picks

A 9-7 win-loss record has me more focused this week to get back on track. One week is always the hardest week to pick games because the NFL is really unpredictable. The Redskins and Chiefs winning had to be the most surprising upset wins in week one. Week two will be must easier but features some great matchups such as Bears at Cowboys, Ravens at Bengals and Steelers and Titans. Without further ado, let's look at the week two matchups.

Sunday Morning Games

Buffalo Bills (0-1) @ Green Bay Packers (1-0), 1pm ET

Green Bay's offense looked stagnant at times against the Philly blitz last Sunday. This week should be a lit bit easier against Buffalo's 32^nd ranked rush defense. If Aaron Rodgers gets careless with the football, Buffalo's ball hawking secondary will make him pay. On offense, the Bills best recipe for success on the ground because the Buffalo passing game is terrible, however Green Bay is a defense that's built to stop the run even though Mike Vick craved them up for 103 yards on the ground last Sunday. Look for the Packers to get running back the ball Brandon Jackson early and often throughout the game.

Winner: Packers in a close than expected victory, 23-16 over the Bills.

Miami Dolphins (0-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (0-1), 1pm ET

The Vikings are in a must win game this Sunday against the Dolphins. That's not good news for Miami who struggled holding off the Bills last weekend. Miami's best recipe for success in this game is getting their potentially explosive passing game in gear against a Vikings defense that at times struggled against the pass last season. With that said, Miami must stay patient with the run even though the Williams wall will make it hard at times for running backs Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. Miami must also keep Adrian Peterson in check to give themselves a legitimate shot at the upset. If Brett Favre can get other receivers in the passing game besides tight end Visanthe Shiancoe going, this will go a long way towards building some positive momentum for the Vikings. Greg Camarillo, the newly acquired Vikings receiver from Miami will look to show his old team they make a mistake trading him away.

Winner: Vikings win 21-17 over Miami.

Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) @ Cleveland Browns (0-1) Upset Alert

The Chiefs looked awfully impressive on special teams and defense last Monday night against the Chargers. Not a lot of people gave the Chiefs a chance to win that game. Across the field Sunday, the Chiefs will take on the Browns, who have their own superstar special teams' specialist in Joshua Cribbs whose capable of taking it to the house on any kick or punt return. The Browns will be starting Seneca Wallace in place of the injury Jake Delhomme. Wallace is a capable quarterback who doesn't posses a strong arm; however he can move around the pocket and get the ball out of his hands quickly when the protection breaks down. I think Chiefs defense coordinator will be a little more focused this week on slowing down his old team and enjoying every minute of it. If the Chiefs don't take the Browns seriously, then they could be on the end of an upset this weekend.

Winner: Chiefs in a close than expected victory 21-15.

Chicago Bears (1-0) @ Dallas Cowboys (0-1), 1pm ET Upset Alert!!

The Bears should be 0-1 in my opinion. They dodged a bullet when a pass that seemed to be caught by Calvin Johnson in the end zone was overturned due to a controversial rule. Dallas will need to have better pass protection or Bears defensive end Julius Peppers could have a field day. The Cowboys need to stick with the run because they have a tendency to become over reliant on Tony Romo and his talented receivers. Jay Cutler and the Bears can move the ball down the field with the best of them, but they also turnover the ball a lot. The Cowboys better keep their eyes on Bears running back Matt Forte, who's become a receiving threat as well as a running threat in the backfield in Mike Martz's offense.

Winner: Dallas wins 24-22 over Jay Cutler and the Bears.

Arizona Cardinals (1-0) @ Atlanta Falcons (0-1), 1pm ET

The Atlanta Falcons held their own in a defensive struggle last weekend in Pittsburgh, but ultimately came up short 15-9 in overtime. The Falcons are the better team and are at home this weekend. This should be enough for the Falcons to overcome the Derek Anderson and the Cardinals.

Winner: The Falcons rebound with a home win in the ATL by a final score of 28-24.

Philadelphia Eagles (0-1) @ Detroit Lions (0-1), 1pm ET

The Lions will be hard pressed to make this a competitive game without their young stud Matthew Stafford. Backup Shaun Hill is a winner; however he's going to take a lot of heat from the Philly blitz on Sunday. Michael Vick will should the world and Andy Reid why he's still a starting quarterback in the NFL.

Winner: Eagles win 21-3 in the motor city.

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) @ Cincinnati Bengals (0-1), 1pm ET Upset Alert!!

I was very impressed with the Ravens offense last week the Jets even though they scored 10 points for the game. Joe Flacco and Anquan Boldin seem to be on the same page in such a short period of time. The Ravens defense is not showing signs of aging what-so-ever and that's a bad thing for the Bengals who need a win to avoid a 0-2 start to the season. Both teams are quite similar in the fact that they both can run the ball and having improving pass offense. I think the Ravens would be best served to run the football to help their secondary from getting shredded into pieces by Carson Palmer and the Bengals. This game could go either way in the end.

Winner: Ravens came from behind and beat the Bengals 20-17.

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) @ Tennessee Titans (1-0), 1pm ET Upset Alert!!

A lot of media, experts and fans have written off the Steelers in this game, but I say not so fast and here's why. The Steelers defense will hold Chris Johnson in check. Both teams will load eight men in the box to stop the run. This game will come down to the quarterback who can avoid the bad throw. The Steelers have a shaky offensive line when it comes to pass protection. Their left tackle Max Starks is out for four weeks with a high ankle sprain. This game was extremely hard for me to pick. I wanted to go with the Steelers in this game however the Titans are at home and they should be the difference in this game.

Winner: Titans edge the Steelers 16-10 in OT.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) @ Carolina Panthers (0-1), 1pm ET

This game is not going to be competitive; The Panthers are just a more physical football team the young Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Winner: Panthers 27-7 over the Bucs.

Sunday Afternoon Games

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) @ Denver Broncos (0-1), 4:05pm ET

After the Seahawks win over the 49ers last week, I had more questions than answers. Are the 49ers overrated? Did we underrate the Seahawks? Denver is not a very good football team, even though Kyle Orton is not a bad quarterback. Pete Carroll can get his third stint as an NFL head coach off a great start with a win in Denver.

Winner: Seattle wins 21-13 in Mile High.

St. Louis Rams (0-1) @ Oakland Raiders (0-1), 1pm ET Upset Alert!!

I can sum up this game in three words: Run Steven run!

Winner: Rams will upset the Raiders 21-14.

Houston Texans (1-0) @ Washington Redskins (1-0), 4:15pm ET

The Redskins tough defense will keep them in the game; however the Texans have too many weapons to be held down for an entire game. The Redskins need to find a way to generate some big time plays down the field to pull the upset.

Winner: The upstart Texans hold off the Skins 19-13.

New England Patriots (1-0) @ New York Jets (0-1), 4:15pm ET

Randy Moss versus Darrell Revis is the matchup every fan is looking forward to on Sunday afternoon. Moss is still considered a an elite receiver in his 13^th year in the NFL, while Revis has a tight hamstring that Jets coach Rex Ryan made sure he brought up to the media. Sounds like an early excuse for a bad game by Revis. The Jets will provide Revis with some safety help over the top to keep the Patriots offense in check. Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is going to have to some shots down field in order for the Jets to keep up with the Patriots explosive offense.

Winner: The Jets get humbled at home again 23-13 to the Pats.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Diego Chargers (0-1), 4:15pm ET

I expect the Chargers to come out and play with a full head of stream on Sunday afternoon. The Jaguars will need to have Maurice Jones-Drew to have a big day to keep this game competitive.

Winner: Chargers in a rout 31-10.

Sunday Night Game on NBC

New York Giants (1-0) @ Indianapolis Colts (0-1), 8:20pm ET

Manning Bowl 2 will get a lot of media hype this week; however I think the Colts defense will step up and help Peyton Manning and the offense get a much needed early season win.

Winner: Colts win 27-17.

Monday Night Football on ESPN

New Orleans Saints (1-0) @ San Francisco 49ers (0-1), 8:30pm ET

The 49ers fans are in for a bittersweet night. The 49ers defense will get craved up by Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The Saints will try to get some early scores on the 49ers in order to make them a passing team, which is not their strength. On the bright side for 49er fans, Jerry Rice will be getting his number retired at halftime of Monday's night game. I was going to pick the 49ers to bounce back and win this game, but I don't trust an Alex Smith led offense.

Winner: the Saints win 37-16 in San Francisco.
