Nice Things to Do for Your Significant Other

Alyssa Russo
Too often people become comfortable in relationships and do not take the time out to do the little nice things for each other that they used to. Wouldn't it be nice to revive your relationship and do something nice for the person you most likely spend most of your time with? Here are a few nice ideas.

Write them a letter or buy them a greeting card and write all the ways in which you appreciate them. Tell them why you are happy to have them in your life and how appreciative you are of them for the things they do for you.

Make them breakfast in bed. Serve them their favorite breakfast on a tray in bed. Add little garnishes to the side, such as pieces of cut up fruit to make it look you put some time and effort into making it look as good as it tastes.

Give them a sponge bath. Run some warm water and bubbles in a bath tub. Grab a sponge and bathe them after a long day at work. Then give them a massage afterward to help them peacefully fall asleep.

Buy them small things. Every now and then, it is nice to buy your significant other a little surprise gift "just because." It doesn't have to be a birthday or holiday for you to give each other gifts. They do not have to cost much either. You could buy him a new DVD or you could make her a CD with her favorite songs on it.

Take them out on a date. Go out on a fun date. Go miniature golfing, to the zoo, the park or the playground. Take them somewhere fun and enjoy yourselves for the day!

Cook them a meal. If you do not cook often or do not cook at all, try to learn one new recipe. You can always look online in a search engine for recipes. If you know that your significant other likes steak, make them a steak dinner with side dishes that they like, perhaps with a baked potato and some kind of vegetable. Cooking a meal for someone is a good way to show that you care about them. Food brings people close together.

Ask them how their day went. It is important for you to communicate with your partner. Ask and really listen to them. Offer them a back rub if they had a rough day.

Take them on a mini vacation. Even if it is just an overnight stay in a hotel and a different environment, it will still be a nice gesture. Getting away for a little alone time and a romantic retreat is a very nice way to reconnect and spend your time together.

Watch a movie that they like. If they like the new science fiction movie that just came out in the theatre and you don't like science fiction movies, offer to take them to see it anyway. Show them that you care by giving up your time to spend it watching a movie that they like and are interested in.

Kiss them goodnight and cuddle with them. Cuddling is a comforting way to show your affection for someone. Get close to them, put your arm around them and give them a kiss. There doesn't have to be any sex involved. It can be a nice quiet night or you could put on some nice love songs.

Say please and thank you. Sometimes when you do become comfortable with someone, you forget to say those nice little words that mean so much. Please and thank you are important and should be said even if you are with someone for 50 years. It shows that you still appreciate the person you fell in love with and respect them as a person.

Enjoy making your partner happy. Don't be jealous of someone else's happy relationship. Make your own!
