Niceville, Florida Memorial Day Weekend

Things to Do in the Niceville, Florida Area

In Niceville, Florida, you won't be hard pressed to find something to do on Memorial Day Weekend. In this part of Florida, so close to Destin, it wouldn't be hard to find something to do on any given weekend, but the Holiday weekends have some of the best events in the area.

If you have a boat or the funds to rent one, you can always spend the day anchored out on Crab Island. Crab Island is a shallow point north of Destin's East Pass Bridge, where it ranges in depth from 2-10 feet. Locals and tourists alike park their boats here to enjoy a day of swimming and partying. Be sure you bring along some cash, however, because there's always a couple of Ice Cream Boats patrolling the area, as well as a floating restaraunt that can sell you Burgers and other fast food. Memorial Day is Crab Island's single busiest day of the year, so be sure to be very cautious when driving your boat on over the Island.

If Boating isn't for you, you could always head over to the Memorial Day Concert Celebration at HarborWalk. This celebration is free to attend, and it features live music, events for kids, and you can't forget the Fireworks show at 8:30 PM. This event is very family friendly, making it a great place to take the kids, and their live performances are definitely worth listening to.

If all else fails, you can always head over to the Destin Commons, right over the Mid-Bay Bridge from Niceville. This place has a great selection of Restaraunts, including Panera Bread, the Hard Rock Cafe, and Johnny Rockets. You could head over to the Rave, the finest Cinema in the area, to catch a movie. Or you could peruse one of the many fine stores that the Commons has to offer, including The Sharper Image, Belk, Books-A-Million, and many more.
