I normally would call V.C. Andrews my favorite author. But since she has passed on some time ago I feel obligated to choose someone who is still alive, and writing to call my favorite current author.
Nicholas Sparks is a fabulous novelist as well, there is no denying. And he is the first male author who I enjoy reading book after book. I got so use to V.C. Andrews "voice" in her novels, that the bar has been set very high. But Nicholas Sparks delivers, every single time.
Nicholas Charles Sparks was born on December 31, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska. In his early childhood days he moved around, living in Los Angeles, Nebraska, Minnesota, and finally the family settled in Fair Oaks, California- by this time Sparks was eight. He went on to graduate as the valedictorian in 1984 having received a full track scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. He met his wife on spring break and they are still together. Cute, huh?
Some of my favorite novels of his are Message in a Bottle (1998), Nights in Rodanthe (2002), A Bend in the Road (2001), Dear John (2006), The Guardian (2003), and The Notebook (1996).
He has found endless success as a novelist writing many excellent stories that fans have grown to love, in a style we have grown to expect. Some of his books include: True Believer, The Wedding, A Walk To Remember, The Choice, The Last Song, Safe Haven, The Rescue, and At First Sight.
His book, The Lucky One, will star Zac Efron and Sparks says (courtesy of his official website http://www.nicholassparks.com) the tentative release date is spring of 2012.
I love Sparks' writing tone it gets me every time. He's able to blend such depth in to his work using romance, intrigue, despair, and hope all at the same time. His style is one-of-kind and I have yet to find any other author that I enjoy reading even half as much.
