Nick.com/BigGreenHelp: Big Green Games
The best way for children to learn about new ideas is to make it fun. Nickelodeon realizes this and offers many games for children to play featuring their favorite Nicktoon characters. Among the games to choose from are SpongeBob & Patrick: Dirty Bubble Busters, The Naked Brothers Band: Polar Bear Bounce, Avatar: Earth Healers, and iCarly: Cafeteria Recycloroma.
There is also the The Big Green Help Global Challenge Multiplayer Game. Select your favorite Nicktoon character and team up with players from around the world to battle CO2. When you're done, you can pledge to do real things to help the environment.
Nick.com/BigGreenHelp: LeBron James Q&A
NBA basketball player LeBron James answers questions about the environment, basketball, and bicycling. When asked what his favorite green food is, LeBron James answered "broccoli". LeBron said the 'greenest' person he knows is fellow NBAer Yao Ming.
The LeBron James Bike-a-Thon Game allows kids to help LeBron spread green tips all over the world.
Nick.com/BigGreenHelp: Slime Across America
Slime Across America tour is going green by using bio diesel to power the Slime Mobile. Nickelodeon's Slime tour is also installing solar panels on the truck, planting a tree at every stop they make, and offering recycling at every location.
By clicking on the fun facts, you can learn that one tree can produce up to 260 pounds of oxygen every year, bio diesel is a biodegradable and nontoxic fuel, and that enough sunlight shines on the Earth's surface each minute to meet the world's energy demand for an entire year.
Nick.com/BigGreenHelp: Glossary
Not sure what carbon dioxide is? Never heard of the Greenhouse Effect? By clicking on Nick.com/BigGreenHelp's glossary of terms, you can learn all things environmental, from CO2 to Vermicompost, which involves the use of redworms to process organic waste into compost.
Nick.com/BigGreenHelp: Take the Big Green Quiz
Do you know what the 3 R's stand for? Whether bottled water is more Earth-friendly than tap water? What constitutes renewable energy? Take this quiz to test your environmental savvy. My results of the quiz were 'impressive' as Nick.com/BigGreenHelp said I was definitely not 'green' (a.k.a. a novice) when it comes to living green.
