I had a good time reading this and I thought of a good one that you didn't mention for Gertrude, which is True. My grandmother's name was Gertrude and she hated being called Trudie, but she didn't mind being called True.

If I had a beautiful name like Meredith I would hate it if people called me Edith! My name is often pronounced as Jean-ne, 2 syllables, sort of a nickname, but it's actually just one. Pronounced like Jean.

Fun! As a Susan, teachers in my youth called me "Sue," which I hated. Now my Isabel has chosen the nickname Izzy - not fond of that, either.

    Insightful list!
