Nicole Richie Claims that She was Diagnosed Hypoglycemic

Nicole Richie has had a lot of health related issues lately. She's been hospitalized several times recently for different reasons, including dehydration, in early March. A statement bas been made by her rep claiming that this has been due to hypoglycemia.

"In her ongoing effort to focus on her well-being, Nicole has recently been diagnosed with hypoglycemia" which is low blood sugar, her spokesperson said.

Richie, who is 25, made a statement last year that she had an issue where she could not put on any weight. There was speculation at the time as to the validity of this claim. However she said that she is seeking treatment for this condition.

Close friend Paris Hilton and Richie ironically worked as counselors at a health camp on the 5th season of their show. Nichole's health issues have had the media's attention for quite awhile and it's rare that you hear about Nicole lately without it being about her health.

"Four or five times she's felt really faint and almost passed out," a source said. "She has to go into her trailer for a good part of the day."

She reportedly collapsed after her first hospitalization on March 14th.

Nicole's rep says that since she got her diagnosis, "She is taking steps to manage it." "Nicole has reported to work each day and the results have been fantastic."

If you remember last December Richie was arrested in Los Angeles for drunk driving. She pleaded not guilty on February 20th and is due back in court on April 2nd to face misdemeanor drunk driving charges.

Nicole Camille Richie (born September 21, 1981) is an American actress and singer. She was adopted by Lionel Richie, she is best known for her role in the reality show The Simple Life.

Nicole Richie was born in Berkley, California. Her biological father is rumored to be musician Pete Escovedo. This was denied by Lionel Richie in an issue of Jane magazine.

Nicole's godfathers are none other then Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones.

Some unfortunate milestones for Nicole were: smoking marijuana at 13, snorting coke at 14 and injecting heroin at 19. She blamed the drug use on her father being gone all the time and too busy for her.

Richie finally entered drug rehab in 2003 and talked with her parents for the first time about her drug addiction. "I'm now, at 24, just learning to deal with my problems instead of concealing them with drugs", she said in the interview.

I have hypogylgemia. It does not effect my ability to gain or keep on weight. If this is what she is implying, I wouldn't buy it! lol
