Nicole Richie Has Baby Girl Harlow Winter Kate Madden with Boyfriend Joel Madden

Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday, January 10th. The little girl weighed six pounds seven ounces. Nicole Richie went into the hospital late Thursday night and her parents arrived as she was going into labor on Friday.

The name of the baby had been the root of much celebrity gossip. It was rumored that Nicole and Joel would have a competition to give the baby a unique name. A website was started to host the competition. It is still unknown if Nicole and Joel named Harlow on their own or with the help of a fan. Nicole was quoted telling Access Hollywood "I figure I'll be in the hospital for at least a day, so I'll figure it out then." She also told Access Hollywood that she and boyfriend Joel Madden would "eventually" marry.

Earlier in November, Nicole had a Wizard of Oz themed baby shower for the coming little Harlow. The shower was attended by a number of A-list entertainment stars.

Soon after, in December, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden started the Richie-Madden Foundation to support children and their families. They threw a "winter wonderland" party for over 200 children.

Richie and Madden denied questions about Nicole's pregnancy until an interview with Diane Sawyer in August on Good Morning America. Nicole, who had a fairly lose childhood as the daughter of Singer Lionel Richie, said that having a baby made her realize that she needed to mature and take control of her life. Joel said that having a baby was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to him.

Though a wedding date still hasn't been set the couple swears that they are happy and are waiting for the right reasons. In an interview in September Joel stated that wedding plans were in their future, but that they were more concerned with the baby right now, and that they will eventually marry.

For those who don't know, Joel Madden is the lead singer of the punk rock band Good Charlotte. He is 28 years old and has an identical twin brother named Benji Madden. They grew up in Maryland. Joel and Nicole started dating in December of 2006 after ending a two and a half year relationship with actress and singer Hillary Duff. Madden is currently working with his brother on their clothing line DCMA Collective. The line is also co-owned by his other brother Josh Madden and his friend Tal Cooperman.
