Nicole Scherzinger to Appear in Broadway Musical "Rent"

Joyce Carole
The newly crowned champion of ABC's Dancing with the Stars has landed a new gig, this time in a musical. Former lead singer for the Pussy Cat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger will star alongside Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical fame and Wayne Brady in a production of the Tony award winning musical Rent. The production is being directed by Neil Patrick Harris and will be performed at the Hollywood Bowl August 6 through the 8, 2010.

Nicole Scherzinger to Play Maureen Johnson in Rent

Singing and dancing sensation Nicole Scherzinger wowed the judges in her audition landing the role of Maureen Johnson. Nicole will portray Maureen, a bisexual performance artist (one of the musical's lead characters).

About the Musical Rent

The musical Rent is a rock musical based on the Puccini opera, La Boheme. Rent tells the story of one year in the life of friends living the bohemian lifestyle in New York City's East Village. Rent tackles issues such as HIV and sexuality. The Broadway production of Rent took home several Tony Awards.

If Nicole's performance in Rent is anything like her dancing on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, those lucky enough to purchase tickets to the three performances of the show in August are surely in for a treat.
