Nigerian Dating Scams: Don't Get Fooled!

MDV
There are many scams on the internet today that can make a person vulnerable. Many people prey on innocent people who are in need of a relationship or some sort of comfort. There are many scams out there today, but one of the main ones people are not aware of are the Nigerian dating scams. These are very deceptive practices that people use to gain trust from their victims. These Nigerian dating scams are one of the biggest frauds on the market. How they work is someone will send you an email claiming to have read about you or found your information somewhere on line. They then proceed to tell you that they are interested in getting to know you and start to talk with you in depth and find out all they can about you. Next thing you know they are asking for a date or are wanting to meet some place. This is when you need to be careful.

What happens beyond this point, after they have gained your trust, is they will either ask to meet you in some foreign destination, or these people will want to get money or financial information out of you. These Nigerian dating scams are one of the most dangerous because of this reason. You must be careful not to provide any information. These people who run the Nigerian dating scams will try and portray themselves as very kind and compassionate individuals who want to help you, but what they are just trying to do is gain your trust to get something out of you. Before you know it you could be in way over your head either losing a lot of money and personal information or worse.

In some extreme cases, you could even put yourself at risk for kidnapping or other personal harm that I wont get into. Just so long as you get the picture and understand these Nigerian dating scams, you can protect yourself and not fall victim. A lot of people that these individuals prey on are just weak and are looking for compassion. So if you find one of these people, just make sure that you investigate everything that you can about them before meeting or giving any personal information. Make sure you take every necessary precaution and you will never get fooled by any Nigerian dating scams, and if you think you are involved in one, always be sure to contact your local authorities or an on line scam resource site that will investigate the matter further.

Great advice! A woman in Oregon just lost $400,000 on one of these scams. Her whole retirement, gone. Her savings, gone. She actually gave it all away because the person on the other end of the computer said that they were a relative and needed the money. The scam went on for months and she never independently verified who the person was on the other side.
