Night

Erin Rivera
As seasons change

and night brings the morning light

I catch a glimpse of your face

And try to hold it tight..

Why does the world keep turning?

When MY world has crashed and burned?

Did I lose my way

Or are there just lessons not yet learned?

They say you are never given

More than you can carry along your way

But I find myself questioning this

As my bag begins to tear and fray

Another goodbye waves from the corner

I close my eyes and wish it away

There are no more tears to cry

I have no more farewells to say

Night comes again

Promising the morning sunshine

But to me it's just another reminder

Of what will never be mine
