Night at the Museum: A Movie Review

Watch history come alive in "Night at the Museum" -- literally!

"Night at the Museum" follows Larry Daley as he searches for a decent job to help support and gain the respect of his young son. After several mishap interviews, Larry lands a job at the Museum of Natural History as a night security guard. But the 11.50 an hour doesn't seem quite as enticing after Larry learns that every night every display in the museum comes to life. Between playing fetch with a t-rex skeleton, boxing with a monkey, being chased by huns, and teaching the cavemen how to make fire, Larry must keep everything under control and inside the museum or lose his job. But soon disaster strikes and someone has stolen from the museum and unleashed the entire museum upon the city. It is up to the newly recruited night guard to round up the roaming displays and stolen artifacts.

"Night at the Museum" is a hilarious fun-packed movie for all ages. The animation within the movie was handle superbly. The t-rex was amazing, and the small cowboy and Roman soldiers actually looked real! It exceeded my expectations by a mile. The acting was good -- most of the actors/acresses usually do a fine job -- and this is no exception. The plot was thrilling most of the time, especially when Ben Stiller was in the actual museum. It kept the watcher guessing what was coming up next. However, there were a few slow parts towards the middle, but what movie doesn't have its slower parts? The characters are quirky and fun to watch. All around this movie was really handled well.

This movie had me laughing throughout the entire flick. It was nothing but slap stick humor and witty one-liners throughout the entire thing. However, it had its serious parts thrust in it as well. Such as the romance between Teddy Roosevelt and Sacajawea. There are also several references to history in the movie, which adds more flavor to the movie.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys an entertaining film. It is enjoyable for people of all ages -- from kids to adults. It has something to offer for everyone: romance, history, humor, mystery, and suspense. The characters may not be as deep as some would like, but it is a movie that is "just for fun."

"Some are born great. Others have greatness thrust upon them," Teddy Roosevelt tells Larry in the movie. He wasn't far off: this movie was great!
