Night Owl's Song - a Rhyming Strike for a Poem I Like

Blessed Are Those Who Raise the Heads of Others with Words of Encouragement and Hope

Linda Ann Nickerson

My sage friend, Owl,
Your verses howl,
And yet you draw my tear.

For though I sit
And read a bit,
You make me wonder here.

It's New Year's Night
And still we write,
To ponder one more year.

On this dark eve,
Unless we grieve,
We pour our thoughts out here.

A fresh new start
For every heart -
For those who persevere.

Though some face blight,
You shed some light
With words strong and sincere.

You raise their heads
To calm their dreads
And seek to banish fear.

You share a word
That may be heard
By any listening ear.

And you reach out
Without a doubt
To comfort those so dear.

To you, dear Owl,
You wise old fowl,
A most happy new year!
