Shadows bring light upon a dulling building
All that lives are now fast in dreams
And all the dreamers awake in the streets
A solitary artist rises in the fall of darkness
To etch his insides on the skin of a concrete wall
As daylight sleeps he creeps against the pavement
With paint bleeding from his wrists,
Images escaping every fingertip
Not a light to follow
Only the path of night he chases
Empty streets become filled with colors
With each colorful step he takes
A black wall becomes bright
With the envisions he brings to life
Cracked bricks displaced
Some falling, some sturdy
Consuming slobs of paint
To make a glorious face
His quick steps follow him from wall to wall
Each meeting a new distance from a brand new canvas
With great determination, an artist rushes against the clock
To keep the daylight from coming
He steadily, yet swiftly, paints every willing rock
Standing back from his creation
A smirk upon his face
Darkness highlights his masterpiece
In the mist of an artist's night time graffiti.
