Night Time Magic

Full Moon Over the Midnight Shore

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

Waves crashing against cliffs
Not meant to be seen
By the eye of an upright
Sentient creature;
Splattered with color,
Some of it green
But lit by the opposite of noon,
A fully reflective moon.

The stage is set for
Night time magic;
In fact, the stage itself
Is the magic it presents
Lacking comic relief
Provokes no
No laments.

A close second look reveals
Some details
That the darkness
Shrouds but fails to
Completely conceal.
Sharp angles and soft sand
Along that ever flowing line
Where the sea
Greets the land.

Clouds lit from above
Glow below.
The illusions of real life
Undermine most of what
We think we know.
Night time magic
May not be magic at all,
But a majestic reminder
Of the power
Of Nature's call.
