It has been
9,864 of them
Nights which have come and gone
The putting to bed the events of our day
Light fading into amber by the glow of our lamp
-and then darkness
I hear you
I feel you
I smell you
I see you by the slithers of light
that steal their way into our room
You extend your arm
I lay my head
You pull me close
We laugh
We fuss
We share
We play
We pray
We love
We spend the last of our day
this way until sleep takes control
and we turn our separate ways
It amazes me how something that's 9.864 nights old
can feel as warm and new as
The first night.
