Nightlife in Amish Country

Although Amish country in central Illinois is fairly small, there is a few places that offer some night life entertainment for those wishing to get a few drinks or something quick to eat before a time on the town. In Amish country, there aren't many bars that are available, but there are others nearby that give citizens a place to meet up with their friends.

In Arcola, Illinois, you can find a tavern, The Dog House Bar and Grill, which has been renovated from a grocery store into a local bar. Almost every weekend, you can listen to live entertainment and meet up with your friends. Every day except on Sundays, you can find specials which you can munch on to satisfy your appetite. On Friday nights, order all you can eat fish, or snack on salsa and chips with your drinks too. The decorations inside feature some of the old Arcola, Illinois Purple Rider football memories as well. It is located on 126 North Oak Street in Arcola and is also across from the old train station and nearby the downtown area.

Another fun area of town in Arcola, Illinois is the It'll Do bar ("Where there's always a party." -as their slogan states). Every Friday night there is a DJ and live entertainment for your dancing and singing fun. After a few drinks or perhaps some brave nudges from your pal, indulge yourself in some karaoke too. Daily drink specials are offered every night. On the grill, order up a hamburger and a side of fries, a breaded chicken sandwich, grilled tenderloin, or a breaded fish sandwich. For some extra snacks, order up some breaded shrimp, cream cheese poppers or beer battered mushrooms. Pizza is also served with your choice of toppings such as pepperoni, cheese, sausage, Butch's white garlic or a combination. You may order in or take out. In downtown Arthur, IL, you will find "The Berg." Outside on their chalkboard you will find daily specials -anything from pizza, fish, tenderloins, or burgers. On occasion, you can visit on a Friday and Saturday night to enjoy live entertainment. Every night, relax or rock down to the music, munch on jumbo shrimp, catfish, pizza, or sandwiches. Inside is an extra room that can be reserved for special occasion parties for birthdays or other celebrations. The Berg in Arthur is a popular meet up for friends in the local area and a quick place to eat before catching up or dancing down to some tunes. The Berg is open every day except Sundays.

So while Amish country is quiet most of the time, or is full of events with craft and antique fairs or markets, some of the folk do know how to party every now and then. There is night life available for those who want some time to relax with a few friends, share some drinks or enjoy live entertainment after a long stressful week of work or other activities.
