Nightlife at the University of Georgia, Athens

The University of Georgia is known for its party atmosphere and nightlife. In fact it is currently rated as the number six top party school in the nation. If you like to party or even just have a good time the Unitversity of Georgia is for you. When most people think about party schools they automatically think of crazy fraternity and sorority parties. However, while these are popular and plentiful at the University of Georgia they are certainly not the only place to have fun at night. In fact Athens, Georgia has one of the most diverse and interesting downtown college life of the south. What are the best and most popular places to hang out you may ask? Downtown Athens consists of numerous clubs, bars, and restaurants all within one mile of each other. This makes it the perfect environment for a night of fun and partying.

40 Watt - A very well known hotspot for students and locals alike. It also has live music for those of you interested in finding new bands.

The Annex - For those not old enough to drink this is the place for you. Eighteen and older for this club and usually has plenty of hip-hop music and dancing.

Barcode - Barcode is a great place for anyone who enjoys beating their friends in pool. Barcode also has a large variety of music for everyone to enjoy.

Boar's Head - Boar's Head freatures mainly a twenty one and older crowd but they do offer free popcorn. It is assumed that they offer the free popcorn mainly so customers buy my drinks to conquer their thirst, but what college student is going to turn down free food. Also, Monday is ladies night.

Bone Shakers - For those not interested in their opposite sex this is one of the best gay bars in Athens, Georiga.

Boubon Street - Mostly has a Greek crowd and does have a 10-11 power hour.

Element - One of the favorites among student this bar/club has live DJ's, a large space for sitting and dancing, and a large digital imaging system.

The Globe - For those uninterested in the intense, loud, and crowded bars and clubs this is the place for you. It has a great sit down and laid back atmosphere.

Molly O'Sheas - Irish pub with great atmoshphere and even better drink specials. Also. MOlly O'Sheas has the largest variety of people out of any of the other bars and clubs.

When your done partying and meeting new people most students head on over to one of the Hot Dog Man's stands for some extra grub. Athens is a great place for anyone looking for having a good time.
