Industry analysts are amazed at the rise in the trading value of sneakers. There is an emerging market for collectors of sneakers. Like the Pez of the 1990's, their are a growing number of associations, gatherings, publications and trading websites for the purpose of serving the sneaker collecting community.
The sneaker designers that have been announced so far are Rasheed Wallace of Philadelphia, Pedro Winter of Paris, Gore Texer of Tokyo, Kaws of New York and Quest Love of Illadelph. All but Quest Love has had their shoes released onto the markets. The sneaker platform is the venerable Air Force 1 sneaker but the designs are as opposite from each other as possible. The Quest Love design is the next sneaker scheduled for release.
Quest Love is a grammy award winning music superstar. He has been the drummer in a number of musical groups the most notable being The Roots. He was born in 1/20/1971 as Ahmir K. Thompson, raised in Philadelphia and has been in the music industry since the age of seven. Through the years, he has often lent his drumming talents to other musicians. He played drums for Christina Aguilera, White Stripes, Madonna, Iggy Pop, Bootsy Collins, Little Richard, Jay-Z and even appeared in the movie The Longest Yard.
The Quest love x Nike 1World Air Force 1 shoe was designed in July 2008. The shoe's color is a blend of maroon and red with neon green zebra print. It has red shoelaces, a picture of Quest love on the back of the shoe and the left tongue, and a gold colored Nike swoosh logo. Quest love said these shoes are "an extension of his personality" as he strives to make "a very loud statement. The shoe is to be released 8/16/2008. If recent events repeat themselves as is predicted this line will be sold out quickly. In other words, we are about to see the release of a pair of sneakers that may be worth more than a brand new car in 50 years.
