Nike is probably regarded as the most well balanced and athletic shoe around, but sometimes advertising can be misleading as we all know. Nike shoes are great for running, walking, and so on, but the shoes themselves seem to run a bit wide and will squish when you walk. This is great for casual wear, but when you're running or walking it can be very uncomfortable and dangerous. A loose fitting shoe, or one that slides or squishes will tend to give the wearer blisters around the heal causing unneeded pain and discomfort.
Reebok shoes fit like a glove to your feet, if you buy the correct size. This is ideal for running or walking because the shoe will still offer protection, but you hardly realize you're wearing it because of it snug fit.
Arch support is a big factor when running and in this category Nike is the clear winner. Nike shoes have amazing arch support and will put a bit of spring into your step. This will ensure that after a long day of working out, running track, your back will not suffer as much if you're wearing a good pair of Nike's
Reebok's also have fairly good arch support, but after you have had the shoe for about a week you'll see a decline in the support they offer. Reeboks are still much better then any other competitor except for Nike in terms of arch support, but still the extra support that Nike offers may be enough to sway you towards buying them over Reeboks.
Now if I'm buying a running shoe I'm going to want it to last me for at least a little while and not fall apart after my rigorous training. Nike's are great, but fail miserably in the durability category. My pair of Nikes lasted no time after buying them; they just fell apart from the strain of running a few miles everyday. Reeboks on the other hand are almost impossible to wear out. I have had the same pair of Reeboks for at least a year and a half and they still work great. The arch support has suffered but aside from their outward appearance they are like brand new. Reeboks just seem to be a tougher more durable shoe.
Price is also a heavy factor when weighing what shoe to buy. Nike's tend to be more expensive overall and due to their lack of durability you will end up replacing them more then you should have too. Reeboks are also expensive though not compared to Nikes, but seem to go on sale more often, making them more affordable. My Reeboks that I buy when they go on sale cost around 25-40 dollars and most of the time you can figure on paying the lower end of that spectrum. Nikes are great, don't get me wrong, but they just don't seem economical.
Now when your talking about running appearance really does not matter all that much (unless you're trying to impress someone) so the look of the show does not really matter to me. However, if you're living on a budget and your running shoes have to double as your day to day shoes you'll be wearing around then appearance does indeed matter. Both Nike and Reebok seem to have you covered in this aspect with both companies manufacturing stylish running shoes. If I had to chose I would go with Reebok for two reasons. One they are very durable and last a lot longer then Nikes, and two they just seem to be like the little black dress of shoes. A nice pair of Reeboks seems to go with everything and will look good no matter your situation. Nikes are great too, but seem to have limitations.
So if your looking for an affordable pair of running shoes that are also stylish and will offer you a good running experience then go with Reebok. Now if you're an avid runner who likes to run for sport, competition and so on then you may want to go with a good pair of Nikes. Nikes offer amazing support, and if you find a pair that fits perfectly then you'll be good to go, just don't expect the shoes to last you for an abundant amount of time.
