Nikki Beach and "The Box" Rock Art Basel Miami 2009

MIAMI, FL (December 6^th, 2009) - Art is not only that which appears in the galleries as determined by the curator. For the first time ever in Miami and during Art Basel Nikki Beach along with Dos Equis hosted "The Box" from NYC for a three-day performance art series that is being lauded as "the best party on the beach during Basel".

Every night, December 3rd to the 5th, following an early dinner show the party started at 11pm and went into the wee hours of the morning. The notorious closing party last night (Saturday, December 5th) got wild as the anatomically innovative acts of the vaudeville theatre from New York City turned up the heat. The champagne was flowing as Jason Binn, Richard Johnson (Page 6), AndreBalazs, Lorenzo Martone, Vito Schnabel, Russell Simmons, Jay Jopling, Eric Omores, Keith Menin, Jack and Lucia Penrod, Simon and Francesca Hammerstein, Rick Yune and a slew of other A-list celebrities, socialites, art collectors and dealers watched the Hammerstein beauties take art to the stage with kitschy crowd pleasers and playful eroticism that left everyone in awe.

The VIP opening of "The Box" at Nikki Beach on Thursday December 5th hosted by the Tate Modern brought the likes of Christian Louboutin and Deanand Dan Caten of DSquared among others. Friday's WhiteWall and KiptonART Foundation hosted party was attended by Miami's it girl Tara Solomon, Kipton Cronkite, WhiteWall's Michael Klug, Vanity Fair's George Wayne, Annabel Vartanian, Merle and Danny Weiss, Lauren Foster, and Marcia Levine to name a few.

The new look at the soon to be launched upstairs club, O-1, at Nikki Beach was sensually appealing. The atmosphere was decadent with dark burgundy and black along with rich damasque prints complemented by large black and white risqué photos by NYC based photographer Jared Ryder. Guests enjoyed Dos Equis in a pop up VIP lounge with dimly lit cube tables and chic armchairs that set a sexy tone.

"Nikki Beach has officially established itself as a prime Art Basel venue" said Jack Penrod, "We really wanted to do something different this year with 'The Box' going on upstairs and a variety of events taking place simultaneously on the beach." From a Herve Leger fashion show portraying fashion as an art form to a graffiti arts party hosted by the top graffitists from around the globe, Nikki Beach rocked Art Basel.
