Nikon D40 SLR Digital Camera Isn't Perfect but It's Sure Close: Product Summary and Review of the Nikon D40 SLR Digital Camera

Luke M.
The Nikon D40 is perfect for professional photographers. The images are as clear as I've ever seen. The transfer rate is phenomenal. But like everything, this Nikon product has its share of problems. I didn't care for the size of the grip. I didn't like how there's only a 6 megapixel picture. Those are minor quibbles when we're discussing one of the best Nikon products I've ever seen.

Pros

The Nikon D40 SLR has great quality in print transfer

Great price

The size makes the Nikon D40 SLR Digital Camera great for durability.

The Nikon D40 is lightweight.

Great LCD display

It's got a 2.5 fps rate!

The built-in editing features, such as the B/W and sepia make the Nikon D40 definitely worth while.

Shutter shuts quick and easy

Battery life is really superior to a lot digital cameras I've seen

Cons

I didn't like how there wasn't a direct button to change the quality settings or even the ISO settings.

I didn't like how small the grip was.

Where's the front command dial?

Auto focus doesn't work too well. There's also no switch for AF or MF. You have to focus with the lens itself. Plus, there's only 3 AF points.

The Nikon D40 6.1 only has 6 Megapixel. This makes a print no bigger than 12 x 18 at 300 dpi.

Even though the Nikon D40 comes with other lenses, the camera doesn't come with any image stability built into it.

All I can say in the end is that the Nikon D40 is a great new camera. Sure, it has some glitches but nothing's perfect.
