Nikon D60 Camera - Product Review

Lovemyviews
When it comes to purchasing a camera, I look for the obvious. I want the high-tech specs, but I always need for it to be user-friendly. If I can't use it, it would be a waste of money. Maybe I'm just not going to buy it at all, which can sometimes cause me to miss out on a great camera.

I was shopping around Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and seen the Nikon D60. Out of all the cameras I had seen that day, the Nikon D60 was the cheapest. For $279, the Nikon D60 offered tons of different features that a lot of other cameras didn't offer. To put it differently, I got suckered into buying myself an early Christmas present. After all why pass up something that you've been looking for?

Subsequently after buying the Nikon D60 I found a lot of things that I liked about it. There wasn't much That I could complain about when it came to how it functioned.

What I found appealing about the Nikon D60

First and foremost the very first thing I became fond of was the way it felt in my hands. This was the first evaluation I made because without picking it up, I couldn't test it. The body of the Nikon D60 is very well put together and easy to hold. The fact that it was small, portable and light made all the difference in my decision to buy it. I know it may seem more like impulse buying but having a small camera was something that I was looking for

Despite my shallow decision to buy the Nikon D60 camera due to size, I really do get a kick out of using it. It's one of the better cameras I've had in a long time. It allows me to take a set of 10.2 mega pixel pictures in a matter of 0.19 seconds. The quality of my pictures are extraordinary. And unlike the Nikon D40 it comes with a dust reduction system to help keep your lenses clean. It's a self cleaning, airflow control system that carries dust out the pathway of images. I think the neatest part about the whole self cleaning dust system is that it shakes afterward to make sure that all dust particles have been removed.

Another thing that I find spectacular about the Nikon D60 is that it adjusts to any lighting condition you may be in. Most of the cameras I've had had this problem, which resulted in dark pictures and or huge light spots. And for the times where I'm not able to use flash during photo taking, Nikon d60 sets it's sensitivity automatically.

I like the understandable interface most of all. There isn't a huge learning curve and I also find the 2.5 LCD pretty decent. Every picture that I take can be viewed in a crisp and clear manner. It comes with an advanced "help" menu setup, which has helped me a lot.

But the coolest thing about the Nikon D60 is that it has an in-camera editor. I've never had a camera that allows me to edit my pictures from my camera. This alone was shocking to me. Not only can you change the color effect, you can correct red eye as well as do retouches.

Outside of all my personal likes I really like the fact that I can print out my pictures without having a pc. All have to do is connect my Nikon D60 to the pictbridge compatible printer and print my heart away. This alone takes away from all the uploading and file finding that I normally have to do just to get on picture printed.

What I found not so appealing about the Nikon D60

The Nikon D60 didn't have much for me to complain about. The only thing I can say is that I expected the battery to be much more reliable. But other than that I have nothing else negative to say about it.

My Conclusion

Personally I think that the Nikon D60 is an exceptional camera for the price. It functions well, offers tons of features and gives me, the consumer a lot to choose from. I would recommend the Nikon D60 to anyone searching for a user friendly, top notch camera.

Was the Nikon D60 on sale for $279 or how did you score one at that price? From shopping around, I always seem to see them above $500. Best Buy lists the D60 for $699 on its Web site.
