Here Are Some Quick Tips to Help You Make Changing Your Baby's Diaper a Smooth Experience for You and Your Baby

The average baby needs over 7000 diaper changes. You will be able to say that you are a pro at diaper changing in no time. The average newborn needs to be changed 12-14 times in 24 hours. Here are 9 tips to help diaper changing go a little bit more smoother for you and your baby.

1. When changing a baby boy make sure that what ever you put them on that there isn't anything behind them that can't get wet. When lifting the lower part of your baby up to wipe or set a diaper under they may decide to pee.

2. Sometimes when a baby poops in their diaper they do not finish right away. It is a good idea to make sure that they are completely done pooping before you pull off the diaper and begin to change them.

3. Since you are changing your baby's diaper so much you may not remember exactly when the last time was, because they all blend together. This is an often effect when you are lacking some sleep. So check their diapers often.

4. No matter what you change them on, whether it is a couch, bed or carpet if it is something that you don't want to get poop on, better to be safe than sorry, and lay a cloth prefold under them before taking off the diaper.

5. When you have to run somewhere, always bring extra diapers. Even if you know that you are only running to the post office it is better to be prepared. You never know if your baby is going to decide to make an extra full diaper.

6. If you use diaper pins make sure that if you set them down fastened. If you used diaper cream try and wipe off your hand as best as you can before putting them into the diaper because the cream will make it difficult.

7. For some reason baby's feet find their way into tins of diaper cream and poopy diapers when they are kicking around. So if you can keep everything away from your baby you can prevent this and consider taking their socks off if you are worried about that happening.

8. If you use wash cloths to wipe your baby's bottom you should get two wet ones just to be safe. If you only needed to use one you can hang the other over something to dry and wet it again next time that you need to use it. If you do need the second one you are going to be very glad that you brought it.

9. Once your baby is rolling around you may find that changing their diaper is a little bit trickier. Sometimes if you give them a toy to hold they may be occupied with that long enough to stay still so you can finish changing them.

Once your child is out of diapers those 7000 diaper changes will seem like nothing, you'll probably be able to change a diaper in your sleep.
