Nine Perfect Post-Game Snacks for Any Sport

Lila Rose
It was not too long ago that parents were hauling coolers full of sugary sodas to games to pass out to all the players. Nowadays, parents are also responsible for a snack. It is no secret that kids love soda and a bag of chips or a candy bar, but it may not be the best option. Post-game snacks should be a reward for hard work, but they should also be a healthy way for your kids to refuel after the game. Here are eight post-game snacks that are perfect for any kid and any sport.

Yogurt
Yogurt is a popular way to offer your sports team a tasty snack and a shot of post-game calcium. Even parents who are required to bring a snack for the whole team can fit a number of yogurt tubes in a small cooler until the game is over. You can also offer the kids a variety of flavors to match any taste buds, although strawberry is always a popular choice.

Trail Mix
There are two types of trail mix and both can be a great post-game snack. The first time is a prepackaged trail mix, which can be found at any store. The other type is your own personal brand of trail mix that is filled with all of your kid's favorites. You can include raisins, crackers, cereal, nuts, and even a bit of candy for some sweetness. When parents make their own trail mix, they control what their kids are eating while giving them a bit of variety.

Jerky
Who does not love beef or turkey jerky? Well, maybe people who do not eat meat, but for those who do, jerky makes for an easy source of post-game protein. Be aware, though parents, of the fact that jerky are filled with sodium, or salt, so you might want to limit the amount of jerky that your kid gets.

Crackers
These days, crackers come in all sizes, shapes, and forms. While it might be tempting as a parent to pick one that is shaped like your kid's favorite cartoon character and coated in cheese, the better option is something that is whole-grain or wheat. You can find most crackers in a big box or small, individual packs.

Pretzels
Although not always the healthiest choice, pretzels are filled with carbs, which will help your kid get back some post-game energy. Pretzels are also easy to handle and a tasty combination of dough and salt. They come in bulk size or in individual packages that are perfect for team snack duty.

Bars
Whether you pick granola bars or health bars, bars are an easy snack choice for energizing your kid post-game. Since granola bars and health bars come in every shape and form, as well as every flavor, it is easy to pick one that will fit every kid regardless of their tastes.

Vegetables
Veggies are a healthy source of snack foods for any athlete. The most common post-game veggie is going to be carrots, which come in a small and portable size. Although some people like dip with their carrots, not everyone does, which makes for an easy and mess-free snack.

Fruit
Fruit is a great snack and many types of fruit are great for on-the-go families. To pick your post-game snack, decide from fruits that hold water, such as grapes and watermelons, or snacks that can be served individually to a large group of kids, like apples or bananas.

Water
Of course, the number one drink to go with any post-game snack is water. Water helps replenish your kid, as well as quench their thirst after a long game. Whether you bring it as a snack or simply as a beverage, a bottle of water is always a requirement for your kid after the game.
