Nine Ways to Say Goodbye to Cellulite

Kim Hardin
Are you tired of having "cottage cheese thighs?" You're not alone. About 85 percent of women over 20 have some cellulite. But don't worry; it isn't as difficult to get rid of as you may think! With a healthy diet, moderate exercise and some "miracle" skin cream (yes, it's true!) You can banish that ugly cellulite and have the smooth, toned legs you've always wanted.

Most people think cellulite is a build-up of fat in the legs, but that's not true, Cellulite is really caused by the connective tissue, which holds fat in place. It's kind of like a fluffy down comforter. The connective tissue is like the comforter's stitching and the fat represents the goose down. The more fat or fluff you have, the puffier and bumpier the comforter! But don't worry, losing fat will smooth out those "bumps."

Here are nine simple ways to fight those ugly cellulite lumps and bumps:

1. Eat healthy. When you minimize the amount of fat in the body, your skin will be smoother.

2. Eat more fresh fruits, veggies and whole grains, - All of which have fiber to get rid of excess stored in the fat-connecting tissue.

3. Drink more water - It won't wash cellulite away, but it will nourish the skin and make it healthier and smoother.

4. Drink some coffee - Caffeine helps the body burn fat better. But don't load up on sugar and creamer!

5. Get more exercise - Contrary to popular belief, you can't spot target cellulite, but you can burn excess fat by exercising, which does reduce the appearance of cellulite all over your body.

6. Unwind - Spend some "me" time and relax. Do yoga, meditate, or massage. Studies show that too much stress causes the body to produce cortisone, which thins your skin. This makes the dimples and bumps of cellulite more noticeable.

7. Try a little soy - It doesn't matter whether you eat it or put it on your skin, soy provides wonderful antioxidants that nourish the skin's connective tissue, keeping it firm and healthy.

8. Wear support stockings - Special anti-cellulite hose are available and which stimulate circulation and tone your legs. Some even offer a special weave pattern that massages the skin and jump starts cellulite loss as you walk.

9. Try a cellulite cream - Believe it or not, studies show that they do work. But, only if you use them daily. Key ingredients to look for in cellulite fighting creams are caffeine, sweet orange peel, black pepper seed and green tea.

It's easier than you thought to get rid of ugly cellulite. By staying healthy, eating right and exercising and getting a little help from some store-bought products, anyone can have great-looking smooth legs!
