The emotional story begins after a mysterious power stone is destroyed and a new world order is established. A war between humans and creatures ensues. See the story unfold from many different perspectives. Control armies and join in the heat of battle and slaughter the masses of enemies!
And I do mean masses. There may be hundreds of enemies on the screen at once! What on earth do you do with hundreds of enemies at once? Why, you jump in and tear them up yourself, of course! You can't expect your armies to do all the work at the hacking and slashing! Your character is capable of various combos and special attacks to take out the enemy. In fact, you can take out hundreds of them at once!
Eventually, you will get to the point where you can clear the whole screen of enemies with one fell swoop! The more you raise your combo tally the stronger you are, not to mention the fact that you can watch your kill tally rise in the process. Watch as your tally rises to the hundreds! More kills means more upgrades too! Your fallen enemies drop blue and red orbs. These orbs raise your attack meter and allow you to unleash devastating attacks, as well as enhance your weapons!
Now about your army. At the beginning of most campaigns, you will be allowed to select 2 groups of soldiers that you will have slight control over. You can order them to attack, hold back, or dismiss them from the battlefield. But honestly, you will be doing all of the work and most of the obliteration of the enemy. But hey, it's more fun that way anyways.
Characters, well there are two main ones that have the most depth to the storyline. Aside from that, there are a few others, including unlockable characters.
The feel of the game resembles that of the Dynasty Warriors games. But the hordes of enemies you take out are by far more in Ninety-Nine Nights. Ninety-Nine Nights is also not your run of the mill "hack n slash." The storyline is quite engaging and will leave you wanting to pursue the game to its end.
Since Ninety-Nine Nights is made for the XBOX 360, expect stunning visuals and superb cut scenes. The fact that there are hundreds of people on the screen at once does raise the concern that the game may move along rather sluggishly. Not to worry! This doesn't occur at all. However, there are a couple of flaws. Distant enemies appear as a blur and the enemy AI all look alike.
Ninety-Nine Nights is only available for the XBOX 360. It is rated M for mature. This is because the game features violence. Sorry kids, you can't buy the game without permission from an adult!
