The cats as a gang are really pretty clueless. They think they are the predators on top of the food chain; you can see it in their swagger. They occasionally stalk the squirrels that laugh at them, lure the cats into the trees and throw nuts at them when they get stuck. The squirrels have been training for years to deal with the cats; they train in the blackberry brambles away from prying eyes. The squirrel, you see are Ninjas, all of them, trained from birth to use num chucks. They are masters of stealth and natural acrobats, and are a force to be reckoned with.
Today I saw one of the Ninja sneak attacks on the cat gang. Usually this would have happened away from human eyes to protect their secret moves but I was able to catch a glimpse. Portly bear was waddling around the house with one of his known associates, the stray cat. To make things easy we will call this cat Sassy. As they were going by the flower pot I heard a "YA". I turned my head and saw a squirrel drop from a tree onto Sassy (I think this move is called cowboy by the squirrels). Sassy jumped about a foot in the air with a squirrel on her back, Bear fell over in shock. I could swear I heard "Ye Ha, Ye Ha", but I could have been mistaken. The squirrel jumped off of Sassy's back, Sassy ran like a wild cat, Bear got up with his mouth wide open, and the squirrel shimmied up the tree and let out a squirrel warning to the effect of "let this be a warning to you" I'm assuming that's what it said, it just sounded like gibberish to me. It then threw a nut at Bear.
So remember my friends, the squirrels are watching your cat's movements, their habits, and analyzing their weaknesses. They are ninjas and will not stop until the cat menace has been eradicated.
Good luck.
