Nino's Bellissima Pizza in New York City Sells for $1000

You Better Check Your Bank Account Before Eating This Pizza... Read On

Anybody in the mood for some pizza?

You better check your wallet or bank account first to make sure you can cover the bill. For this type of pizza pie, it will cost you $1,000.00.

That's one thousand dollars people.

Believe it or not there is a pizza place in New York called Nino's Bellissima that sells their pies for 1,000 dollars. This pie is a thin crusted pie and is made out of caviar and lobster, amongst some other foreign cheeses. The owner states that 750 dollars worth of caviar is spread on this pizza which is the main reason why this pie is so expensive.

That averages approximately 33 dollars per bite.

If you thought the pizza was a bit on the pricy side, stay in New York and go to Norma's located in Meridian Hotel in Middletown. They have an omelet that will cost you just as much as the pizza. A cool $1,000. This is a special omelet made out of eggs, lobster, Yukon gold potatoes, and caviar costing you about 700 dollars per pound.

Some people ask themselves "Who would buy this?" and the answer is. Not many but it is bought.

Roughly 2 pies per month are bought for 1 thousand dollars and the same goes for the omelet.

What ever happened to the times when you can go to the local pizza shop and get a slice and a drink for about 2 dollars. That's the cheapest I remember. My parents would inform me that for .25 cents they could get dinner and a movie when they were children.

I went to dinner the other night at a local pizzeria and bought 2 slices of chicken parmesan pizza and that cost me 8 dollars. That's a bit pricy as well. 4 dollars for one slice of pizza.

Since I brought my girlfriend with me she also ordered two slices of pizza. I spent 16 dollars on 4 slices of pizza. I would have been better off buying an entire plain pie and bringing it home in front of a good movie.

Everything is getting so out of control and expensive today. And the thing is no matter how expensive things get, people will continue to buy them.

I am not a cheap guy, so don't get me wrong. Once in a while it may be nice to go out and try something new, but is 1,000 dollars for a pizza or an omelet really worth the money?

Why would anybody buy this. You could make it yourself for cheaper than it costs. For that kind of money, it better be the best tasting pizza in the world.

I am afraid to even go into New York city at this rate. I live in New Jersey and it doesn't take long to get into the city from here, but prices are already expensive when you dine in New York City.

If they are going to continue to get more expensive, I will have to bag my own lunch from now on.

I for one have not personally tried either the pizza or the omelet. I am not a huge fan of caviar. The pizza may be incredible. It may be the best tasting pizza, but I would never spend that kind of money. I don't think I spend 1000 dollars a year on going out for fast food. I would rather buy the food and cook it at home.

Your comments on this would be greatly appreciated. I would love to hear what everyone has to say on this topic. Would you buy these courses?

Let me know.

This kind of thing just chaps my butt. Nobody needs to spend 1000 dollars for a pizza. We give tax breaks to the rich while our national debt rises to 14 trillion bucks just so people can eat a 1000 dollar pizza. Our priorities are really messed up!!

Establishments such as this--offering $1,000 entries that would normally cost no more than $14.00--are appealing to New York's nouveau riche who just need to prove that they have money to burn. You would never find old money spending $1,000 on a caviar pizza (on excellent caviar alone, yes). It's a gimmick--pure and simple and, apparently, they reel in one to two rich suckers per month.

I just saw a cable food show featuring Bellisima's and it's a pretty ordinary pizza apart from the caviar and lobster. No, I wouldn't pay for that pizza. It's insane. I'd buy the ingredients and do it myself. If only 2 of those pizzaz are bought each month, I think it means that most people are still thinking straight. And it also makes me wonder how fresh the toppings for that pizza are if it moves so slowly, unless of course they're used for other menu items. Just wondering ....
