5. Star Fox: Nintendo has left this franchise alone for nearly four years. Considering the mixed reaction its games have received since Star Fox Adventures, I am not surprised. However, that does not mean that Star Fox can return to its former glory, and a new series entry for the Wii could do that. The Wii Remote just seems natural to use to pilot the Arwing, and with any hope, we can have multiple ways to beat the game, and no more on-foot missions, as they made Star Fox Assault the weakest title in the series. Maybe Nintendo has been trying to find out what has and has not worked for Star Fox and will tweak it enough to make its Wii debut a masterpiece.
4. Kirby: A Kirby game first announced for the Gamecube and then moved to the Wii has had its fate up in the air for a long time. Nintendo cannot seem to make up its mind whether it is still being made or if it has been canceled. Hopefully at E3, more details and a release date will finally be revealed, and a game first unveiled five years ago can be enjoyed by Kirby fans everywhere. Failing that, there could be a spin off title, whether it is a sports title, a puzzle game, a racing title, or something entirely different. Kirby's starring debut in a Wii game is long overdue, so I hope that this little problem will be rectified.
3. Paper Mario: I know that a Paper Mario game came out for the Wii not long after its release, but it was an odd mix of platform and RPG elements. A true Paper Mario RPG game, on the other hand, would do a stellar job in returning the series to its roots. More turn-based battles, more humor, more ingenious surprises...maybe even more hilarious Bowser levels! Nintendo has already released one excellent Mario game for the Wii this year in the form of Super Mario Galaxy 2, so why not come out with a proper Paper Mario game, as well? As Mario's 30th anniversary draws near, a major release such as this would be stellar.
2. Pikmin: It has been confirmed for quite some time that a new Pikmin game was being developed for the Wii. As of yet, however, that is all we know. No details, no screen shots, nothing. Perhaps this year, Nintendo will change all of that and finally get around to revealing at least a few tidbits of information. What mission will the Pikmin help out with this time? Will it take place on their home world, or a new location? This often overlooked series has had two solid installments for the Gamecube, but has not been seen in six years. When E3 rolls around, perhaps the countdown to the third Pikmin title will finally get underway.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Last year, all that was revealed about Link's upcoming Wii adventure was a teaser poster. With its official debut scheduled for E3, some questions may be answered. Who is the mysterious woman on the poster? Why doesn't Link have a sword? What will the game's title be, and what are some of the specific details of the first Wii-exclusive Zelda game? Hopefully, the speculation will come to an end soon, and everyone will be excited about a game that Nintendo hopes to release by the end of this year.
As you can see, three of these series have yet to see a Wii installment, while the other two had Wii title released early in its life. Of course, Nintendo may have some surprises in addition to any of the ones listed here. What are Nintendo's big plans for E3? Will more of my predictions come true this time? For those predictions that turn out not to be correct, when and will they become a reality? We will simply have to wait and see. In the meantime, E3 is set to take place in June, so we will not have to wait much longer to learn about Nintendo's future plans. Who knows...they may surprise us in a way that no one could ever see coming.
