This week, NES Play Action Football, Neutopia II and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 arrive on the Virtual Console. Here is a brief rundown on the titles of yesteryear.

NES Play Action Football
Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
Original System: NES
Original Release Date: 1990
Genre: Sports
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 500
ESRB Rating: E
Although it was quite revolutionary for its time, NES Play Action Football doesn't hold up well today. It has an awkward isometric view that will irk some long time football gamers. Football fans should get the classic Tecmo Bowl instead if they are craving for some old school action.

Neutopia II
Developer: Hudson
Publisher: Hudson
Original System: TurboGrafx16
Original Release Date: 1991
Genre: Adventure
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 600
ESRB Rating: E
Neutopia II is the sequel to the Zelda-esque original (which was released on the Virtual Console on August 20th). Neutopia II is bigger and better than the original in every way. Definitely pick it up if you are an adventure fan.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Developer: Sega
Publisher: Sega
Original System: Sega Genesis
Original Release Date: 1994
Genre: Platformer
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 800
ESRB Rating: E
The 2D Sonic games are one of the few platforming franchises that can stand up against the classic 2D Mario games. In fact, Sonic was often referred to as Mario's biggest rival. The third game in the series is another solid addition to the beloved series known for its fast pace action. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is easily the best Virtual Console game released this week.
