Nintendo's Wii Fit Looking to Change the Way We Look at Exercise
Long Gone Are the Days of Boring Exercise Routines
It's pretty obvious that technology in this day and age plays a big role in obesity in America but it's not all to blame. Parent's need to start enforcing stricter eating habits and exercising habits no matter how badly their kids hate it. If you have kids that are just completely obsessed with video games, Nintendo may have something you might want to look into.
Recently at the latest video game convention E3, Nintendo unveiled a new game for the revolutionary console called the Nintendo Wii called Wii Fit that focuses on kids getting up and moving around. Wii Fit involves performing certain activities that can be fun for regular gamers yet attractive to even the non-gamers out there.
You can do push-ups if your looking for a basic and simplistic workout or you can choose some more challenging areas. The peripheral you get with Wii Fit is a balance board. Some of the activities on Wii Fit involve balancing on one leg while keeping your weight centered. The idea is to keep yourself lined up within a certain area that's displayed on your television.
If your looking for some other fun related activities that don't remind you your exercising, Wii Fit also has several games such as the head soccer game. The idea here is to stand on the balance board and move yourself in the direction of the soccer balls coming at you to try and head butt them. Its looks like people are kicking soccer balls out of your television and you can head butt them back. Other fun activities found on Wii Fit include the ski jump mode and ball-rolling mode.
With the ski jump mode, you basically lean forward on the balance board as if you were really doing down a slope and once you launch off it, you just lean back trying to get the best possible air you can. The ball-rolling mode sounds especially challenging. You basically put all of your weight on the balance board trying to move a ball around a puzzle board on the television. From the sounds of it, this can be quite a fun challenge and a good workout too.
Nitendo's Wii Fit could revolutionize the way everyone looks at exercise. Even people who just play video games all day can find new and more exciting ways of getting some exercise each and everyday. The nice thing about Wii Fit is that it hardly comes across as exercise. You can choose to go that route though if you enjoy stretches, yoga, push ups and such related workout areas. The majority of people can find some of the other activities more appealing.
Kids especially can get in some fun time on Wii Fit without even thinking about the fact they are exercising. Think about how nice it would be to know while your kid is playing Wii Fit all day, they are still getting some physical activity in as well. Wii Fit is not just meant for kids though. There are tougher challenges for teens and adults as well such as the balancing activities that require some good strength in certain areas. Wii Fit is set to appeal to a large variety of individuals and can help those individuals find new means of fitness.
Wii Fit on the Nintendo Wii is looking to change the way people look at video games and could possibly bring a new wave of fitness related games to the market. If you have any kids that love to sit on the couch all day playing video games, you might want to look into the Nintendo Wii's Wii Fit. You should always encourage your kids to go outside but there are certain times where you won't be able.
Wii Fit is a good alternative for some exercise indoors instead of just sitting around all day with no activity. Your kids will never even think of it as exercise. The Nintendo Wii is continuing to revolutionize the gaming industry and Nintendo is taking a big step with Wii Fit. Look for Nintendo Wii's Wii Fit to be in stores sometime in 2008.
