NIVEA Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash - Lustrous or Lackluster?

Gwendolyn Taylor
After seeing numerous ads for the Touch of Sparkle body wash by Nivea, I was intrigued to see if it would really live up to its claims. I have never used or purchased Nivea products before so I thought I would give it a try.

The manufacturers of this product claims that this is "enriched with sparkling conditioners" and "leaves skin smooth and moisturizes" and "nourishes skin long after the shower". Other claims also include that this product is "enriched with sparkling diamond powder and conditioners", contains "pearlescent cream oil" and the "tantalizing scent of white calla blossom", and is "developed with NIVEA's Skin Sensation Technology to provide a shower experience that lasts and lingers". Here is my take on these claims.

First of all, this body wash does not leave any sparkle on skin whatsoever, even upon application! After several uses of this, I did not see any hint of shimmer on my skin after showering and my skin did not appear illuminated or any different. What's worse is that for a cream oil body wash, I expected this to be at least somewhat moisturizing, but after I got out of the shower my skin was still dry, and even more dry in comparison to the previous times when I used other body washes. Looking at the ingredients labeling, there is nothing that really sets this product apart from its rivals except for a whole lot of unrecognizable chemicals. The diamond powder is just a hard sell to get people to buy this and yields no results. The only good thing about this product is the scent which is a bit more distinct than other brands I have tried.

NIVEA claims that this body wash can be used with out a pouf, but really I have done that with all other body washes and still yield the same effect. It appears with this product there is a whole lot of hype and nothing to prove itself. The price is just as ridiculous. For a 16.9 oz bottle, this can retail for around five to six dollars and luckily, I managed to buy it with a coupon for $4. Yet, I would say that this product is not even worth a dollar, considering that it doesn't even moisturize well enough. This should have been named as "Touch of Disappointment" instead. I would not recommend wasting your time or your money on this.
